An event every week that begins at 4:00pm on Thursday, repeating until October 27, 2018
Train with the internationally experienced crew that took to the seas in The Great River Race 2017 and 2018. Discover this team-focused sport that allows you to develop yourself and work with others to achieve shared goals. Guided by an experienced cox you will receive personal training during the row. The aim is to work up to a Social Row Event (rowing from one place to another), or even better an Expedition Row which advanced rowers will be invited to join, and the ultimate goal is to compete in the London Boat Race 2019.
All you need to take part [after membership] is a great attitude, a pair of sneakers you are willing to get wet, fingerless sports gloves are advisable but not necessary, and a waterproof bag if you must keep any valuables with you in the boat, such as your mobile phone. Ordinary sports gear that you’d wear in the gym is good, light layers recommended.
Each boat takes six active rowers but up to 8 can be in the boat, swapping in to row to ensure everyone gets to enjoy the experience of rowing.
In the extremely rare case of emergency, being able to swim is a necessity. Less confident swimmers and those not able to swim 50m are issued a life vest to wear at all times.
