In 2015 get out blog – based in Kuwait and founded by Nour Alkawass, supported spot the dot (as a media partner) during their exhibition in Vienna.
Today not necessarily famous will bring the founder of spot the dot, Marije Kruis, a melanoma patient from the Netherlands to tell her story and to give an education lecture about skin cancer awareness.
Spot the dot is a foundation using urban art to raise awareness of melanoma and other types of skin cancer. Spot The Dot works with artists from all over the world who make exclusive “art against skin cancer” and donate it to the cause. Spot The Dot encourages people to start a conversation with their loved ones about the importance of prevention and detection of skin cancer.
This is a public awareness campaign to raise skin cancer awareness around the globe. The motivation for this campaign is borne out of the many misconceptions and myths around skin cancer.
We let artists have their own approach to this story to visually inspire us to take better care of our skin and get that regular skin check.
Why skin cancer awareness?
Each year millions of people globally are diagnosed with skin cancer.
It is in the top 3 of most common cancer types amongst young people.
This means you should keep a close eye on your skin (and the skin of people around you).
Remember, when prevention of skin cancer fails it is still highly treatable if detected early. Make sure you do a regular skin check with a dermatologist or your general practitioner.
