Zakynthos
Look at that beach, need we say more? Lounge on the beautiful expansion of white sand beaches and swim in emerald green-blue waters. Dive with sea turtles and underwater caves for the adventurous. We are quite certain that this iconic photo is the reason why visitors are lured to this special island.

With very little options for Greek cuisine in Kuwait, food is exceptionally delicious and fresh in Greece, wherever you go. As long as you stay away from the tourist traps, and opt to eat local, then you’re golden. Indulge in the best olives and olive oil, fresh seafood, addictive Moussaka, amazing grilled meats a.k.a. the Greek shawarma, delicious Feta cheese and the most delectable baklava. We also recommend visiting the local taverns!
Experience the Zorbas!
You haven’t lived or danced until you’ve experienced the Zorbas! The name Zorba actually means to live each day. If you’re not familiar with the iconic story of Zorba The Greek, here is what you are missing out on:
Based on the novel written by Nikos Kazantzakies, the film tells the story of Greece’s most important philosopher ‘Zorba the Greek’ or Alexis Zorbas. Played by Anthony Quinn in the movie alongside Alan Bates who plays the role of his uptight boss, one can never forget the scene where Zorba teaches his boss how to dance, and the film ends with both men dancing on the beach! Hence, the birth of the saying, and embracing life to the fullest! Do the Zorbas with the locals, and become one with the Greek philosophy!
Athens, never skip seeing Athens!
While most people opt to skip the capital and head to the islands, we’re here to tell you that they are all WRONG! You will only be scratching the surface with your first visit to Athens. Steeped in history, 7,000 years of it to be exact, touring Athens will reveal a wealth of archeological sites. You can live life the local way, shop till you drop and take endless day trips around the capital. Simply put: ATHENS IS A MUST! Travel tip: Make sure you pack comfy walking shoes, and use their metro system that also feature mini museums with a showcase of artifacts uncovered from the time the metro was constructed!
See the Acropolis.
Located above Athens, this ancient citadel that means ‘the high city’ in Greek is not to be missed. A visit to the legendary Acropolis will give you incredible views of the city below, and this landmark also contains the remains of several ancient buildings, including the stunning Parthenon. Try and head there super early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the crowds.
The coffee…oh, that coffee!
This bazaar writer once got kicked out of a cute Greek Patisserie in London for offending the owner when she asked for…wait for it…Turkish coffee. Never. EVER. Make. That. Stupid. Mistake. Just ask for coffee. Whether or not the Turks invented that elixir of heaven that is the coffee served in Greece, it doesn’t matter. It is IRRELEVANT. Its preparation in this nation is a pleasure to observe, and a greater one to consume. Especially when it comes with a side of Baklava.
“Greek coffee” may be a matter of national pride in the Mediterranean nation. But increasingly, Greeks are embracing espresso, an imported brew, as their cup of Joe of choice.
Mount Olympus
Oh, that mythical mountain that is the Great Olympus. The all-powerful Zeus once ruled the mythological world from up there, so why not pay homage to this wonderful site! A visit to Mount Olympus National Park will offer an experience so enriching that one-day won’t suffice. Established in 1938, the park is also home to where the Olympian games were founded to honor the great Zeus.
The Island of Crete
Considered as Greece’s largest Island, Crete deserves its very own separate holiday. The locals are super friendly, and adventures are around every corner of this ancient island lined with magnificent beaches. A visit to the Ideon Cave, also the birthplace of Zeus according to Greek mythology, is a must!
The Monastery of The Holy Trinity, Meteora
When we first saw the pictures of the Meteora monasteries, we were stunned! Built on top of rock pillars, the six Eastern Orthodox monasteries are also listed as a World Heritage Site and are located in Kalampaka. The Holy Trinity Monastery is truly something out of a fairy tale!
