Here at bazaar, we run out of space on a monthly basis when it comes to selecting content to print, we cover so many stories about different places, people, and events that we wish we can print double the number of pages to show people that k-town is, indeed, jam packed with stuff to do! I’ve personally heard this argument a thousand times, “There’s never anything to do here, and I’m so bored!” Well, if you never believed us, then believe The Grapevine, one of Kuwait’s most loved websites that pioneered in showcasing local events and activities from a rich network of contributors, including yours truly!
Wendy Villalva, the brainchild behind The Grapevine Kuwait, was at a loss when she moved to Kuwait two years ago. Until she stumbled upon Kuwait’s rich resource of bloggers, “I was so amazed at how much stuff was out there for me to do, given that I came here with NO idea about what to expect. I also noticed that a website that operated as a hub to notify readers of these events mentioned from so many sources would be helpful!” She explained, and adds, “Well, it helped me first! It was very difficult for me to meet others who shared the same interests as I did– or to meet other people from my country!”
Ecuadorian born, and American raised, Wendy sought to simply provide a fun resource. Little did she know that this little online gem has garnered the likes and support from many, as her consistent style in simply delivering fun filled ideas in the form of constant posts, sweet and bubbly nature in the social world (she’s a true delight in person as well!) make for a truly successful, credible source.
So, if you’re at the latest crafts workshop, ask your mate if they heard about it ‘through The Grapevine.’ They’ll probably answer you with an excited ‘yes!’.
