When one comes to know Jasem Al Ghanim, they would find it hard to ignore how his mind is in a constant state of motion, yet he will always curtly smile and carry a great conversation, as he tweets a funny picture or jots down a reminder.
It took us a great deal to convince this 25-year-old to go for our truth or dare feature. Don’t worry guys; he didn’t think he’s too cool for us, even though in all fairness, Jasem can easily pass for one of the coolest people you will meet. Full of positive vibes, a happy-go-lucky disposition that will leave you smiling, he’s a simple soul with a whole lot of ambition to better himself and those around him. In between at least 4 different projects online, he spends most of his time between managing his personal projects and work, and sees little time to waste on so-called social activities. “Even though I don’t go out as much as I want to, I have a core group of friends, and that’s what matters.”
If you’ve lately spotted a t-shirt with a funky burger-inspired print, then you’ve probably come across The Burger Movement, one of the projects Jasem initiated with his friend Hassib Bayerli. He comments, “We wanted to create something with a different perspective, burgers present a universal interest, and let’s be honest, who doesn’t like burgers?” Inspired by the rags to riches story of US based cult brand, Johnny Cupcakes, Jasem and Hassib see unprecedented opportunity, he adds, “Starting with very little money, Johnny Cupcakes is now a million dollar industry.” This ambition deeply resonates with them to follow in these footsteps, refusing to take money or help from anyone and simply grow a slow but sure following. We can certify that the t-shirt designs are highly addictive, and since these designs are only produced once, if it is sold out, the design doesn’t come back to production, so each and every t-shirt is unique and collectible.
From The Burger Movement, to the highly addictive blog, stuffwecomeupwit.com, you see a part of Jasem in every thing he does. When it came to the website, Jasem, along with his friend, Fahad Al Sharrah, decided to break the routine of blogging and rather focus on including viral videos and photos to provide viewers with something different, and more importantly amusing. These are videos you want to watch, videos that are random, or inspiring, with a twist of postings about random facts about Kuwait.
With more projects in the pipeline (we’ve been sworn to secrecy) his refusal to give in to the routine that society upon us poses as a great example to follow. You can have fun online, and still do something useful with your time.
