Launched in 2005, Kuwaiti based company Posta Plus sought to be the answer to the many international shipping woes of local businesses and consumers alike. With the launch of their My Box service in 2010 it was clear that there was indeed a new player in town in the world of international packaging shipping and receiving. In a country with such a large amount of expats and an equally challenging practically land-locked amount of options, this is one of the most important services that connect people at home with people locally. We sat down with the CEO of Posta Plus logistics group, Fares Barqawi, to see how their business has faired since their initial launch, and where they are heading next.
When was My Box created and who are your customers?
My Box Service was launched in 2010 as part of our value proposition to bridge the delivery gap in a timely matter to our loyal customers and target market, through a fully integrated portfolio of services. The service is an online delivery portal available to our e-customers demanding comprehensive platforms that bridges the chain between purchases made online and the physical delivery to their door step. Today, businesses that don’t have a presence in the digital space, are rushing to create online portals to supply the demand for e-customers, especially within the retail business. The customers of My Box can range from online portals such as Amazon, E-bay or retail stores with digital presence, to even e-customers purchasing online.
How does the service work?
Basically, through My Box service you will be able to have a specific mailing address for you that serves as the first point of delivery for all purchases made in countries such as the UK, USA, UAE, and (soon) China. After that, My Box will clear and deliver items purchased to your destination across the MENA & GCC Regions.
How are you different from the other competitors in the market?
Well, we might not be the first in the market but we definitely feel as if we are the customers favorite choice. We were able to leverage on our competitor’s experiences in the market prior to our launch by creating an improved business model that is tailored to our target market giving them the comfort of service delivery and value for money contentment.
Where do you see yourself in five years’ time and what will you do to take My Box to the next level?
We already have a strategy in place that keeps us paced with today’s evolutionary consumerism trends that are shaping the service industry in general. Our strategy in five years’ time is to be the favorable delivery and logistics destination to our target market through our service delivery and value added services. We have already taken steps forward towards attaining our strategy by introducing a tailor made service identified from our customers demand. This new service is called “No Route.”
What is No Route?
We noticed during the course of My Box service offering, that a lot of customers were asking to pick up the merchandise from our warehouses specifically rather than being delivered to their homes. So we introduced the NR service on our website that will be selected by the customers according to their preference.
