Zaineb Arndt redefines what it means to be a Jill of all trades. She’s been a magazine editor, a freelance writer, a pizzaiolo, a visual branding assistant, and a visual merchandiser. And don’t be fooled by the job title, she doesn’t stop at it. She’ll do what needs to be done to make sure things run smoothly. Her education is just as diverse and varied as her career. Zaineb studied Photography, Nutrition, Public Relations, Advertising, Applied Communications, Psychology and Fashion Styling.
Today, she’s the International Brands Manager at beautique cosmetics intl. A friend of hers sent in her job application and told her that this was a job with her name on it. Ironically, Zaineb had always considered the fashion and food industries but never beauty. However, her experience in multiple industries and roles cultivated a strong work ethic, attention to detail, an ability to wear different hats and a positive can-do will-do attitude. All of which, made her the perfect person for the job. She has been pleasantly surprised by how much she has fallen in love with the beauty world.
She manages a number of different brands and has to work with parent brands as well as her local team to make sure that products are being sold, marketed and used in a way that mirrors the brands’ visions. She also has to make sure that advertising material is aligned with the local clientele’s needs, likes and what they are attracted to. She needs to be culturally sensitive and market smart.
It’s a difficult market to break into. Kuwaiti women are exposed and have access to the world. They’re savvy buyers that value and love luxury brands. Hair, beauty and makeup can be extremely powerful tools of self-expression. Consumers use them to create a self-image that communicates who they are to the world and Zaineb loves being part of that world.
When I asked Zaineb about emerging beauty trends she told me that hair is going to be bolder and brighter than ever. We’re already seeing undercuts and unicorn hair and it’s definitely not going away. Coconut oil, charcoal and face masks are going to dominate the shelves. Korean brands are proving very popular too. But her favorite brand right now is Leonor Greyl. It’s an French ethical brand that is good for the environment and is trying to repopulate the bees. Our bazaar tip? The curling spray is out of this world, and leaves your natural curls feeling soft and bouncy—no more crunchy curls for our team of natural-haired editors!
Our favorite thing about Zaineb is how dynamic she is. But she’ll tell you that you need to be patient at everything you do. She’s constantly on the lookout for self-improvement and improving the world around her. Her main concern is to see people and things grow and flourish, and she absolutely loves seeing everyone at her company shine in their own light.
But if we had to boil down Zaineb’s daily goals and ambitions to one statement, it would have to come down to this: Her modus operandi is to show up, do the work well and stay prepared for whatever comes in the future.
