International football player, Neymar, who is admired by many football lovers around the world will be bringing his personal flair and astonishing expertise at the Red Bull Neymar Five Championship to proudly crown the best Five-a-side team in the world. The qualifiers are already underway, and will continue throughout the months of March and April.
The teams will be competing in a ten-minute, five-a-side football match that is based on Neymar’s own rules. The pitch dimensions are 30m by 18m as teams will be forfeiting a player with each goal scored against them. Teams will also be playing without goalkeepers, which is going to be challenging!
They will try to score the most goals, or until one team runs out of players. Both men and women teams are eligible to play between the ages of 17 to 25.
The fast-paced nature of the tournament means that spectators can take in multiple matches at each event; watching, witnessing, and fully supporting their very own local talent rise among dozens of other teams, just for the privilege to compete in the World Final. The event will be held in the Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr, in Praia Grande, Brazil later on this year.
This is definitely the most popular five-a-side football tournament in the world by both participation and reach. Plus, for non-professional athletes, it will give them a chance to personally meet the Paris Saint-Germain phenomenon on the pitch, and maybe even snatch a priceless selfie!
Last year, over 400,000 players signed up from more than 75 countries. This year sees higher projections, with teams competing in seven continents for the 2020 edition of the Neymar Jr Five Global Tournament.
This year also marks the 5th Edition of the global competition. Additionally, The State of Kuwait will be hosting the qualifiers of this year’s tournament on March 30th and 31st, as well as on April 1st, 13th15th , with a National Final taking place on April 17, 2020.
