Operation HOPE
An acronym for Helping Others Practically & Everyday, without discrimination or disrespect to anyone, this is a grassroots humanitarian outreach program motivated by compassion to alleviate suffering in Kuwait. Operation HOPE is a nonprofit which serves those in the greatest of need through the support of the local and international community. They started and continue to distribute many bags of gently-used clothing to those who need it most, but their outreach has grown to include supporting with toiletries, blankets, bedrolls, and foodstuff to embassy shelters; visits to farmhands in need of shoes, blankets, and food at Kuwait’s borders; visits to local jails to deliver blankets and toiletries for detainees; to being the “soil” for startup outreaches such as Trash to Treasure and Broken to Beautiful, which offer training for shelter wards in embassies to learn new skills in order to become self-sufficient upon repatriation. If you are able to make a financial contribution, volunteer a few hours of your time, or donate gently used clothing or household items please reach out to them – it will truly be appreciated!

KAACH
Kuwait Association for the Care of Children in Hospital (KACCH) advocates for the provision of optimal conditions for children and their families in the hospital to reduce the adverse effects of hospitalization on their development and well-being. Volunteers unselfishly give their time by contributing in many different ways and ultimately helping provide children in the hospital with a friendly positive atmosphere. Whether it’s playing with the children in the hospital, decorating the pediatric wards for a child-friendly environment, helping in the office, or at fundraising events, volunteers play a significant role in supporting KACCH in its aims and goals.

Equait Kuwait
Equait is a youth-driven organization founded and run by Faisal Al Fuhaid and Leanah Al-Awadhi. It works by promoting social equality and respect toward Kuwaiti residents from all walks of life. 69% of Kuwait’s population are expats and some of them are seen as occupiers rather than residents, so through events like the Model United Nations, food rallies and walkathons, Equait aim to make Kuwait a more open and accepting environment. So far, they have recruited over 230 Q-heroes (volunteers) and received over 200 individual delegate applications for the Model United Nations, and you too can help them with their many missions – such as distributing lunch-bags for the needy throughout Kuwait.

OXAdventure
OXAdventure’s mission is to “Inspire the youth through travel, charity and adventure to create global citizens and to enrich the minds of the future leaders.” They are a non-profit organization that started with three Kuwaiti youth who had a passion for travel, charity work and adventure. During each carefully planned trip, the team will complete charity in the countries they travel to – such as humanitarian work in education, construction, or delivering laptops they’ve collected and repaired in Kuwait to give to less fortunate university students abroad. Along with the charity work, they will safely explore the country on a budget and see things the way the locals do as opposed to tourists. The trips have developed into an accredited internship program in several universities in Kuwait, and the organisation is funded through sponsorship and volunteers who pay their own way to assist during the projects.

AlNowair
AlNowair, as an organization, is a 5-year initiative driven to spread positive attitudes in Kuwait through events, exhibitions, activities, seminars, workshops and campaigns. It plans to communicate simplified scientifically proven data about the benefits of a positive attitude toward life. They have also created a grass roots movement by engaging, enlightening and inspiring the youth of Kuwait through their multitude of programs, independent initiatives and projects.

KAREQ8
KAREQ8 is a group of passionate animal lovers, based in Kuwait and throughout the world, who focus on helping rescue animals, finding homes (in Kuwait and abroad) for those which are rescued and/or homeless, teaching rescuing techniques to people who find abandoned, injured or abused pets, run TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release) programs, and create awareness of animal care and rescue by visiting schools, institutions and universities. They do not have a shelter, so are always looking for volunteers to help with adoption, rescue, foster, care, donations or help spread awareness of the need for adoption, TNR, and of their plight!

Basta
Basta, is all about sustainability. They want you to donate, sell or buy. Instead of throwing away items you no longer need you can sell or donate them. You can also buy used items from them instead of purchasing new items. Proceeds from their sales go towards more of their projects. It is a win-win situation all around.

Kuwait Red Crescent Society
Founded in 1965, the KRCS is one of the oldest and most active charities in Kuwait. KRCS’s humanitarian action focuses on humanitarian initiatives based on the idea of philanthropy, exerting efforts and giving. Activities include blood drives, aiding refugees, and helping areas that were stricken by natural disasters.
