All of us impatiently wait for the cooler months in Kuwait. We’re finally free of the stifling heat and dust that make enjoying “the outside” impossible. When winter graces us with its cool breeze and golden sunlight, it’s time to take the party outdoors. Whether you’re soaking in the serenity of a seaside spot or gathering with friends under a canopy of stars, winter picnics are the ultimate way to savor the season. Think cozy blankets, delicious snacks, and the laughter of loved ones all wrapped up in the perfect alfresco escape.
Ready to upgrade your picnic game? We’ve rounded up 5 tips and tricks to help you make the most of Kuwait’s cooler weather. From must-visit locations to clever packing hacks, this list has everything you need for a picture-perfect outing. Let’s dive in!
Think local: You don’t have to travel far to have fun. You can call your friends and grab your supplies and head to the nearest park or beach. If you keep it simple, you’ll be able to make it a more regular thing. Not only will you be getting your daily requirement of vitamin D but you’ll be helping your body relax because we all feel better after some sunshine and fresh air.
Go solo: We usually think we need to be with friends to have fun, but sometimes the best company is ourselves. It can be refreshing to carve out time and space to sit still, think or even let our minds wander. It might be the perfect opportunity to try that new meditation app, catch up on some reading, or just sit and listen to music while you watch the world go by.
Bring snacks: There are few hills that we’re willing to die on, but always having snacks on hand is one of them. You can pack a lunch from home or get something ready made, but think of the packaging. Make sure it won’t leak and make a mess. WIll you need cutlery or can you just use your hands? Do you have a container to store leftovers? And of course make sure you have some hand sanitizer or wet wipes so you can start and end with clean hands.
Pack smart: What you eventually carry will depend on where you’re going and how long you’re staying. But there are some basics that are always handy like a fully charged power bank, basic first aid supplies and extra drinking water. Another useful tip is starting with a lightweight bag. A heavy bag when empty is just making life harder when you don’t have to.
Document and romanticize your day: This might be a hot take and might even get called cringey. We’re not advocating posting your every move on Instagram (unless you want to) but we want to remind you to take pictures that matter instead of the ones that look good. If you want your life to feel magical you have to start telling yourself the story that it is. This small shift in perspective can make every event in life so much better with very little effort.
