On a warm Tuesday morning at the elegant Dar Hamad, the creative forces behind The Spirit of Kuwait gathered for an intimate press meet-up that offered a rare glimpse into one of the most anticipated cultural productions of the year. Journalists, content creators, and cultural enthusiasts were welcomed into the heart of the production.
The Spirit of Kuwait, a produced by AlRai Entertainment and Kaif Productions, is set to premiere at Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre (JACC) on May 28, with two additional performances on May 29 and 30. The show is a musical tribute to Kuwait’s heritage; reviving beloved folk melodies and reimagining them through grand orchestral compositions, modern arrangements, and the evocative use of authentic Kuwaiti instruments.

While embracing contemporary elements, the production remains deeply rooted in the country’s rich cultural and historical legacy. The Spirit of Kuwait showcases the vibrant rhythms of Kuwaiti folklore, including Samri, Sout, Khumari, and Singeeni. Presented in a captivating blend of visuals and music, the performance incorporates traditional Kuwaiti instruments such as the Manjour, Sarnai, Yahla, Merwas, Hawan, Tar, Bahri drum, and Munjeb, seamlessly blended into a grand orchestral arrangement. Newly composed pieces by celebrated Yemeni composer and conductor Mohamed Al-ghoom will further reflect Kuwait’s rich musical heritage.
The orchestra—comprising more than 70 participants and blending traditional Kuwaiti and classical orchestral instruments—will be conducted by maestro Dr Ahmed Al-Oud. Cutting-edge visual and sound effects will elevate the production, with vocals by celebrated singer Salman Al-Amari and rising talent Abdulaziz Al-Misbah. Talented musicians, namely, Faisal Shah, Abdullatif Ghazi, and the Almass band, will be contributing to the richness and authenticity of the soundscape.

During the press event, guests had the opportunity to meet the show’s key figures, including maestro Dr. Ahmad Aloud, who shared insights into the creative journey, highlighting the meticulous research, emotional depth, and national pride driving this ambitious endeavor.
Costume design is led by Farah Albabtain (Muhra), whose modern interpretations of traditional attire bring a visual poetry to the stage, while choreography by Briza Alroumi adds rhythm and storytelling to the performances through stylized Kuwaiti dance.
The show also celebrates a wider creative community with contributions from visual artist Mariam Al Salem, whose artwork, centered around the theme of Kuwait, adorned the walls of Dar Hamad during the press event. Fatemah Dashti designed a limited-edition tote bag produced by Al Saffat, offering a tactile keepsake that connects audiences with the spirit of the performance beyond the theatre.
The Spirit of Kuwait is further supported by a strong network of partners, including Dar Hamad, AUM, Al Saffat, and Muhra، each playing a vital role in bringing this cultural experience to life.
What sets The Spirit of Kuwait apart is not just its sonic ambition, but its storytelling. Through a seamless blend of music, movement, and visual narrative, the show captures the rhythm of a nation, the sea, the land, the people, and the pulse of a rich, evolving identity.
With only three nights scheduled, this is a production not to be missed. Tickets are now available through JACC, and anticipation is building for a show that promises to leave a lasting echo in Kuwait’s artistic landscape.
