The family-run UK tea company, Ahmad Tea launched their latest global brand awareness campaign that focuses on the people who give their all to make their dreams come true.
The campaign is wholesome, heartfelt and an ode to the years of dedication, passion and commitment it takes to become a master of your chosen field.
The campaign features four different individuals who have been practicing their art for years. Alice Kinsella is an English artistic gymnast and member of the British national gymnastics team. She is only 19 but she is already a star in the sport. In 2018 she was Commonwealth Games balance beam champion and in 2019 European champion too. Gymnastics is a highly competitive sport, yet Alice has already put in the hours, effort and passion to be the best.
“You’re going to have some low points. Training 24/7, you do get injuries. Say I have a bad competition day, I try and block it out, move onto the next day, forget about it, but I know it’s hard because you’ve put all your training in, you’ve worked so hard and when it doesn’t go the way you want it to go, it’s quite a horrible feeling, but tough days make you stronger, so just keep going. That’s the life of the sport. Keep following your dreams, keep working hard in training, never ever give up,” says Alice.
Jaleesa Gemerts, AKA Lady Groove, on the other hand, chose to do something completely different.
“Everyone’s purpose in life is to make life easier for others, so making them feel happy is very important to me,” she explained. So, she makes music with her drums. She packed her bags in 2012 and left for Amsterdam from London to study music.
It only took her 18 months and she had already joined a drumline and performed as part of the opening ceremony of UEFA championship’s final. Jaleesa says that, “To be an artist you have to be consistent and passionate. If you want other people to benefit from it you’ll have to keep working at it and make sure people get to see what you’re about. If I keep going more people could hear about it and more people could be moved by my art. And some of those moments will stick with you forever.”
When we mention arts, we often think of painting and Kyle Barnes easily fits the bill. The award-winning portrait painter was born in Northern Ireland but is currently based in Southampton, England. The Towry prize from the National Open Art Competition, ‘Young Artist Award’, the ‘People’s Choice’ Award at the Royal Ulster Academy and the Whyte’s Award at the Royal Hibernian Academy are already on his resume. He sees his art as a way of helping people relate to the subject of the painting.
“A portrait artist’s job is to translate that character onto canvas to allow other people to see that, tap into that, read it, relate to it. To be an artist, I think you need a lot of patience and perseverance. Just go for it, just keep trying, keep fighting through the critique that you get. You need inner strength, not letting things muddy that up along the way. Keep fighting through that, keep aspiring and keep being inspired. Yes, never give up,” Kyle sums up.
You might not think of tea tasting as an art, but it absolutely is according to Master Tea Taster William Manning. Being able to perceive the subtle flavors of a tea blend is something that takes years and a seriously discerning sense of taste and smell to achieve.
“When you find the perfect blend,” he laughs, “it’s [an] euphoria actually. It’s the top of the mountain. To be an artist takes a huge amount of dedication and passion, and really wanting to achieve something at the highest level. That doesn’t come without a lot of hard work. It’s about you wanting to get to the top of that tree,” William explains.
