It’s our favorite time of year in Kuwait when that cold breeze is back and you can finally dine outdoors, and to celebrate the change of the winds, we decided to visit the renowned Al Boom Steak & Seafood Restaurant at The Radisson Blu Kuwait for its reopening, and it is not one to miss! From an exquisite menu to a fancy ambiance aboard the iconic Dhow boat, you are promised a one-of-a-kind pampering experience! Here’s everything you need to know.
As we set foot on the gorgeous boat, we couldn’t help but marvel at being in the presence of history. We were greeted and seated by the welcoming staff of Al Boom Restaurant, and our table was located right at the edge of the ship, where we could properly enjoy the dazzling skyline of Kuwait and appreciate the subtle wind lightly caressing our skin. We skimmed through the menu, a true portal to a foodie’s paradise: The steaks, the seafood, the salads, the desserts, it had it all!
It was hard to decide, but we settled on the Signature Date Flatbread, Smoked Burrata with Heirloom Tomatoes, Wood Fired Flat Bread for appetizers, the famous Whole Zubaidi and Striploin Steak for the main courses, and the Baked Cheesecake for dessert.
As we were appreciating the beautiful weather, immaculate vibes, and glittering views, the appetizers stealthily arrived to delight our senses. We started with the Signature Date Flatbread and immediately fell in love, the soft bread and unique flavors joined with olive tapenade and butter, we couldn’t get enough. Followed by the Smoked Burrata with Heirloom Tomatoes, that’s when we knew that presentation was just as important as taste for the expert chefs at Al Boom Restaurant, as the salad was aesthetically decorated and drizzled in glistening pesto sauce and matured balsamic, the flavors perfectly blended and enticed our senses. Finally, we moved on to the Wood Fired Flatbreads, the colorful plate included beetroot, carrot, creamy hummus, crisp rocket leaves, cracked falafel, confit garlic, and topped with pomegranate arils, the fusion of flavors and textures was a dream!
The main courses were swiftly followed after, where they gloriously graced our table bringing along a mix of aromas that had us impatiently waiting to devour them. The Striploin Steak’s melt-in-your mouth texture and juicy bites had us elated, it was everything you expect from a steak and more – tender, and flavorful, and paired with the creamy mushroom sauce proved the perfect combination. The Whole Zubaidi fish, a much-loved local favorite, was spiced to perfection with a slight warm kick and tasted absolutely divine. Even if you don’t consider yourself to be a seafood lover, this buttery soft texture of the fish in this dish will absolutely change your mind; it was easy to understand why this was one of Al Boom’s bestselling dishes and renowned specialties.
And because there’s always room for dessert, especially when the sunset marked the start of a glorious evening, the Baked Cheesecake made its entrance. The slow cooked dessert is both crunchy on the top like a crème brûlée, and creamy inside, with a hint of orange and peach flavors. While you would typically expect a cheesecake too be quite simplistic, Al Boom’s version was beautifully complex yet subtle. We were left speechless, enjoying the flavors in silence, taking in all the tastes, and enjoying the delightful, evening sea breeze. If, and when you decide to visit Al Boom Restaurant, make sure you do not miss out on this dessert.
