Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and a month of it being absent from our daily lives only makes the heart grow fonder. That’s why this spark of good news will only pique further interest for innovative Eid plans!
Readers: our beloved hot dog heaven, Haute, now offers BREAKFAST on their menu! Could anything be more fun? And just before the Holy Month of Ramadan hit, we were invited to a secret tasting to try out what they have to offer – and let us just say, that breakfast with a side of Haute dogs is our new favorite thing.
As we sat down to breakfast at the lovely, intimate affair that included a small handful of friends from the creative community, we were greeted warmly with a lovely surprise! Owner of GRND Coffee, Lulu, joined our table for a brief moment to inform us that her specialty coffee concept would be collaborating with Haute’s breakfast menu! She then brought over her equipment to handcraft flavorful cups of artisanal coffees for us to enjoy with our lovely breakfast that was being freshly prepared. They certainly added a perk to the experience!
Then came our first courses: sandwiches! Who doesn’t love a good sandwich? Haute captures the versatile meal by adding in an inclusive breakfast vibe to it. The NY Sandwich consisted of beans, crispy bacon and fluffy scrambled eggs sandwiched between two grilled pieces of brioche, and it was a hit amongst all the companions! Filling, and offering the best of all breakfast worlds, it’s a surefire way for any craving to be satisfied.
Its counterpart, The Carlos, was a winner for those who aren’t egg-sandwich inclined. Made with a blend of white and yellow cheeses, thick, cured turkey ham, and an in-house made guacamole, grilled and melted to perfection with a beautiful pull upon breaking apart. Protein for days, this sandwich was a stellar choice. And pro tip: both sandwich plates come with gorgeously sautéed garlic potatoes that practically melt in your mouth with the amount of flavor infused. Paired with the requisite pot of white sauce (strongly resembling lightly whipped sour cream), your palate will surely be happy.
Other entrees sampled were creative, hot-dog inspired dishes – because Haute is a renowned, clean, made-from-scratch, hot dog joint! So, we were more than overjoyed to enjoy their homemade hot dogs in the style of Haute Omelet; hot dog wrapped in an exquisite omelet, and Frank’s Egg; a classic hot dog topped with their gorgeously scrambled eggs and a lovely mound of shredded cheese, placed comfortably within a classic potato roll.
But the showstopper here was definitely the Benedict! Perfectly poached eggs nestled delicately atop homemade hot dog slices, resting on a soft English muffin pillow will give you that warm fuzzy feeling that makes breakfast worth getting out of bed for. And ladle it with some homemade hollandaise sauce? Yes, please!
Yes, Kuwait – they have pancakes too. And boy, are we ever grateful! Those pancakes were certainly one of our favorite highlights of the tasting, as they graced us with not one, but two different types! Haute Pancake, a savory pancake, was first introduced, which gave us a glimpse into Haute’s extraordinary pancake making skills. This classic stack of pancakes was presented au natural, with no muss or fuss drizzled atop; only a sprinkle of caramelized hot dog strips julienned to perfection that were almost unrecognizable without taking a bite. Served with a small bottle of pure maple syrup on the side, the experience took traditional pancakes to another level! And it’s worth mentioning that these pancakes achieved the perfect amount of fluff and cakiness – you don’t want your pancakes to be too cakey, but you also don’t want them to be crepe-like either. So good job, Haute; you get a pancake award!
The next pancake platter presented was a little more intense, but these babies were most definitely worth it. Dubbed Marble Pancake, the chocolate covered pancakes are definitely dedicated to those who prefer to go the “dessert style pancake route”, but are decadent enough that everyone can take a bite for a bit of sweet satisfaction. Each layer of cake featured a generous coating of this mystery chocolate concoction that vaguely reminded us of lovely, sugary Kinder confection in liquid form. Needless to say, it left us with an intense sugar buzz that won’t be forgotten anytime soon.
Just when we thought we couldn’t handle any more sugar – or carbs – Haute caught us by surprise. A plate of gastronomically pleasing Paris Style French toast made its way to our table, and it was just gleaming with such beautiful presentation that we couldn’t resist! Haute took a rolled approach with this dish, and decided to drizzle it with a lovely caramel sauce and spiced vanilla ice cream on the side, while placing a playfully peeled banana on the side for added pleasure – because, why not?
It’s also important for us to let you all in on a special Haute secret: Haute also plans to collaborate with other local up and coming coffee shops that will pop up at the restaurant to perfectly accompany the new breakfast menu with Kuwait’s best artisan coffee concepts that we’ve all come to love.
With ultimate satisfaction, we complete our breakfast experience at Haute saddened by the fact that we won’t be able to enjoy it again until Eid, but excited that this is set to be a permanent fixture on their menu. As though Haute hasn’t impressed us enough with their delicious hot dogs, their indulgent breakfast items have only proven that this great establishment is determined to achieve the most decadent of food dreams, and they do so with gusto.
