Our phones are never too far away and we instinctively reach for them hundreds of times a day. We have compiled a list of apps that can help guide you through times as such, whether you are looking for a way to de-stress or stay up to date with current news.
This is a tricky one. If having enough information is something that helps you relax, then this tracker will show you in real time the number of cases worldwide that are confirmed by the WHO. Apple and Google are cracking down on these apps to make sure that only legit and reputable data sources are being used and this one passed the test. If you find that the data just stresses you out then delete it right away.
Which brings us to relaxation. There are dozens of great meditation apps and we really do advise you to shop around until you find the one that works best for you. Buddhify is a great place to start because it is really simple and needs no long-term commitment to gain any benefits. The colorful wheel shows you what it has to offer, just pick the guided meditation that suits your needs and just follow the soothing voice. There’s nothing mystical or woowoo about it. Just a calm voice guiding you through rocky waters.
Other great apps to try: Calm and Headspace
If you are feeling isolated and alone, we assure you that you are not. We are all in this together and we’re all struggling to make sense of the world and of life. But, if you need some extra support, Helponymous makes it easy to find help while staying anonymous. If reaching out to your family and friends is hard for you, you might be able to find a support system in the app’s community.
Other great apps to try: 7Cups and Betterhelp
Normally we’re super self-motivated but everyone needs a little help sometimes from a friendly app. This app sends you positive reminders to keep you on the right track. There is a wide range of topics to choose from and you can even customize your own message. Think of it like having your own personal cheerleader in your pocket.
Healthy habits are the best way to protect yourself mentally and physically right now. Drink enough water, get some exercise in, think good thoughts and all that. This Fabulous app uses science-based methods to help you build and maintain these habits.
Not exactly an app but …
If you already own a step counter or a smart watch, now is the time to make sure you get your steps in. Even though you are spending all of your time at home, don’t underestimate the amount of walking you can do inside. Your dining room table is the new track. Turn the volume up on your favorite Spotify playlist and step your stress away.
Don’t forget to disinfect your phone
You are constantly touching it, putting it on surfaces and then touching your face (which you totally should stop doing by the way). Properly cleaning your phone should become part of your regular routine.
