The inevitable pressure of creating an annual list of resolutions and then sticking to them becomes a chore as January rolls on. Me being me, I always start said list with this harmless enough statement: Read more books. I mean, who doesn’t want to read more, right? What I neglected to take into account is the sheer volume of books I buy every chance I get (that happens often, way too often), and thereby the intense volume of choice I am left with. Then there’s my this-is-getting-too-large-must-save-from-toppling-over “To Read” pile, but that’s a story for another day. (Haha! Get it? No? OK moving on.) In the futile attempt to rescue my sanity from the abyss and to save-face at work (this whole “I’ll start a book club for the new website” thing wasn’t properly thought through) – I picked one!
Hallelujah!
As traumatic as the whole experience was (“I pick this one, no..this one! No….this one?” *screams in frustration*) I’ve chosen one of my latest additions from the seemingly endless pile: Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell.
Now the time has come to sit down and type away my thoughts and feelings about this novel, and I’ve chosen to share this experience with you, dear reader. This will possibly give me the opportunity to stop devouring three to five books a month, and slow down to read at a more..how do I say this..enjoyable rate. As we journey through a book per month, join the book club and let me know your thoughts about my pick-de-mois.
If this is not the kind of book you’d typically read, you needn’t worry! My library has somehow managed to collate everything from Nietzsche to Lauren Weisberger (The Devil Wears Prada? Anyone?), so I’ll hopefully be able to stumble on something pleasing for every literary taste.
For now though, lets get reading!
Fangirl is available for purchase through the following online shops:
