We agree with the experts who say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But probably not for the same reasons. A good breakfast puts us in a good mood ,fuels our psyche and our bodies, allowing us to seize the day and make the most of it.
The secret to a good breakfast might be a balance of nutrients, but a great breakfast is what you can expect at our favorite Mediterrenean-inspired concept restaurant, Solia.
Prepare yourself for a true feast and a journey across the beautiful ports, cuisines and flavors of the Mediterranean. We want our first meal of the day to be colorful, fresh, textured and a lot of fun.
Dips are a huge part of any traditional breakfast spread and we love the Labneh With Honey & Nuts offered at Solia. It might sound like dessert, but it also includes lemon and chili relish, the acidity and heat balancing the sweetness perfectly. If you don’t normally feel adventurous in the morning then opt for the classic Labneh. You can never go wrong with zaatar and olive oil.
The pita chips that come with the dish are so crunchy and toasted you will probably ask for a second serving before you are finished with the first. Pair it with the humble falafel that has been re-imagined as falafel fingers, the same wonderful warmth and goodness of a falafel in a much smarter shape that is much easier to dip in the delicious tahini sauce that comes with them.
If you believe that no breakfast is complete without flatbread or mana’ish, you have come to the right place. There is a Za’atar Man’oosha with your name on it in the Solia oven made fresh just for you. If you need some extra protein, try the Baked Egg Fatayer, prepared with eggs, parmesan cheese, sun dried tomatoes, feta cheese, fresh basil and thyme powder, it is a power-house of nutrients and goodness.
But what we really love is the Beedza (no, it is not a typo). It is a margherita pizza, specially created and developed by local chef extraordinaire Ahmad Al-Zamel prepared with San Marzano tomato, mozzarella, garlic & olive oil.
There are so many exciting dishes that you can try. The fusion of so many different cuisines and culinary traditions in the region at Solia sends your taste buds to so many wonderful places. The Egg Sliders With Avocado is an unexpected delight. Buttery potato brioche sandwiches that hug the perfect creamy scrambled eggs and guacamole on molten Gruyere.
Or the Baked Halloumi, that is served in a wonderful cast iron skillet. Tasty halloumi cheese, plum tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, green olives, black olives, dried oregano and fresh thyme play really well in a cacophony of color and flavors that will wake you up from the deepest slumber.
If, like us, you want to end on a high and very sweet note then the Cinnamon and Honey Dip is for you. A light-as-air blend of cream and butter. The sweetness of the honey and cinnamon give it an exciting kick that will satisfy your sweet tooth.
Solia’s French Toast is another perfect choice. It is pure indulgence with the buttery rich French brioche, caramel sauce and Gorgonzola Dolce, topped with nuts and fresh berries to seal the deal. If you are feeling something healthier, allow us to suggest the seasonal fruit platter. Only the finest, freshest produce and fruit make it past Solia’s high quality standards. The perfect way to end a meal.
You can have all of this delivered to your home or office, but we still prefer to visit the two locations. We usually head to the restaurant at The Forum in the Avenues before we embark on a marathon shopping spree. And when we’re in a more mellow and chill mood we love spending the warmth of the morning sunlight at the Murouj location.
Solia is located in The Forum – Avenues and Murouj, for more information email solia@hajery. com, call the hotline 180 0005 or follow them on Instagram @soliakw.
