Bulgarian Music Nights started five years ago led by musician Preslav Petkov a resident, teacher and Ahmadi Music Group musician in Kuwait.
Preslav says Bulgarian Music Nights is “…a music platform which gives opportunity to young musicians from Bulgaria and other countries to come and collaborate in Kuwait.” The nights, which are always free, are presented in collaboration with Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah.
They are pleased to host another four incredible Bulgarian guest-musicians to Kuwait jazzing up the classical experience. This follows the success of the last two Jazz projects performed to fully packed halls across Kuwait.
In the Yarmouk Cultural Centre, the talented Bulgarian musicians: Militsa Gladnishka – Vocal, Vasil Spasov – Piano, Mihail Yosiffov – Trumpet, Boris Taslev – Double Bass, will collaborate with Kuwait-based performers: Anna Karadimitrova – Soprano, Preslav Petkov – Saxophone, Sobir Mukhammadiyev – Drums, and play a mixture of Classical and Jazz pieces.
Audiences have delighted in two previous similar concerts at Yarmouk, where the musicians showed their charismatic approach to introducing popular classical pieces and arias through innovative jazz arrangements. This is talent you don’t want to miss!
Coming to Kuwait as a truly special treat for the audience, is Militsa Gladnishka. This incredibly talented jazz singer and actress is well known in her home country of Bulgaria and abroad, as an active performer in both film and television as well as from participating in the jazz scene.
Vasil Spasov is among the most popular jazz musicians in Bulgaria. Known as a leader and collaborator in several projects, he is a pianist of the “Mihail Yossifov Sextet”, “Romaneno Project” and Militsa Gladnishka, as well as a band leader of his formation “Fankalero”. He is known internationally as a pianist and as a composer of Theater and Film music. – Vasil Spasov
Mihail is the founder of the Mihail Yossifov Sextet a modern jazz formation created in late 2009 by the trumpeter and composer. He is considered one of the best contemporary Bulgarian artists. With his sextet Mihail Yossifov creates music in the company of five other brilliant musicians who form today’s image of jazz in Bulgaria; their pianist is Vasil Spasov.
Boris Taslev is enjoying a successful career in Bulgarian jazz and pop. He works with popular artists like Vasil Parmakov, Kamelia Todorova, Militza Gladnishka, Neli Rangelova, Panayot Panayotov, Hristo Yotsov, Angel Zaberski, Mihail Yossifov and many more.
This group of musicians and singers no doubt will perform wonderfully in the fabulous venue that is Yarmouk Cultural Centre. We can’t wait to hear it. Welcome to Kuwait!
