Ever wondered what a chocolate sushi roll could look like? Fancy a Milk Chocolate Burger? How about a Vanilla Spaghetti? We promise you, we’re not making this up. These dishes are only a part of the amazing experience that awaits at Chocolate Cuisine located at E-Mall in Hawalli and in Arabella, Al Bida’a.
A local concept brought to us by three Kuwaitis in their mid-twenties, Chocolate Cuisine first began as a fanciful idea that quickly took flight. From there, it evolved into a fully-fledged concept in November 2014 and is quickly expanding across Kuwait. With no initial plans to compete with what the local market had to offer in the world of all things chocolate, the founders’ passion for chocolate led their brand to merit the name and gain amazing reviews from diners in Kuwait. Chocolate Cuisine is a concept truly built on innovative thought, a passion for chocolate desserts, and a desire to deliver diners in Kuwait an affordable yet sumptuous experience prepared with local, high quality ingredients. We were already sold when we noticed Waffle Sushi on the menu. I mean, who could even resist such wonderful temptations?
Every imaginative choco-inspired dish at Chocolate Cuisine made us think of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. With almost 35 dessert offerings on their internationally-themed menu, you can try an inventive chocolate dessert with every visit. Better yet, make it a group outing, celebrate all things chocolate and order many dishes to share! From cakes, brownies, crepes, to chocolate-only creations, you will be spoilt for choice here even if you’re not a chocolate fan.
Chocolate Cuisine’s Hawalli location offers both an indoor and outdoor seating area, while the Arabella location boasts a seating capacity of 120. The concept’s décor and branding is clearly distinguished with its golden and chocolate brown hues, hinting at an indulgent journey filled with gooey cake fondants, sweet sushi offerings, and plenty of lotus-filled experiences.
Before we embarked on our sweet experience, we decided to try some of Chocolate Cuisine’s savory star dishes. We wet our appetites with their signature Crispy Salad. Prepared with a tangy special dressing, we loved the mix of crunchy greens with crispy fried potatoes, sweet potatoes and beetroot chips. We also tried the Creamy Pink Pasta with chicken and sautéed mushrooms. This dish is always a winner, especially when you sample Chocolate Cuisine’s delicate and succulent marinated chicken! We also experienced this delectable chicken in the delicious Grilled Chicken Sandwich.
Dessert here is obviously the main affair, and we didn’t even know where to begin! Do we start with the Waffle Stick, dipped and drizzled in a trio of chocolate sauces, or should we explore the Brownie Crepe? The brownie won, and we loved their take on a simple vanilla-infused crepe, filled with chocolate brownies and artfully drizzled in white, milk and dark chocolate sauce. Deciding to take a break from all the addictive chocolate sauces, we opted for the Pan Lotus, which consisted of a Lotus infused cake, filled with more Lotus sauce goodness, and topped off with Vanilla ice cream. Other imaginative creations include the bite-sized, dessert sushi. This varies from oriental flavors like Pistachio, old fashioned biscuit cake takes on a Japanese twist with the SucSec sushi, and your favorite coconut flavor is also present in sushi form. Chocolate Cuisine is also famous for its selection of fondant cakes, where our favorite was the cookie fondant—perfectly crunchy on the outside, and oozing with gooey deliciousness as soon as you crack it open with your spoon!
To end our experience at Chocolate Cuisine, we gulped down an espresso shot from their wide selection of beverages. We paired this, however, with their most famous dessert—The Cuisine Golden Daze. The name alone speaks miles of what customers should expect! Expertly tempered chocolate is constructed in the shape of a dome, covered in gold, and is then drizzled with warm chocolate sauce that melts the dome to reveal its delectable contents. This dessert is a pleasure to both witness and consume. Once melted, you can dive into a medley of delicious vanilla sponge cake, strawberries and banana.
We loved our visit to Chocolate Cuisine, and we will surely be back to try more of their imaginative dishes at both their Arabella and Hawalli locations. Perfectly set up to entertain both indoor and outdoor diners, we can’t wait to spend a relaxing afternoon outdoors sipping on some hot chocolate and any of their devious dessert creations.
