Through his campaign, Akram hopes to raise enough funds to set up a factory in Hurghada, Egypt where he can produce the Tablona and other percussion instruments.
I believe that we should maintain our local culture and instruments, they give us the basic essence and sound of our culture and unfortunately the art of making Ceramic Darbuka is a dying art… Since the making of the plastic and aluminum Darbuka many Darbuka players have forgotten the original sound of this instrument… Tablona is reliable and takes no time to heat or tune. It is concert ready at all times.
