While Kuwait doesn’t really have that many pet-friendly places like dog parks and such, that shouldn’t stop you from wanting to become a dog owner! Dog owners are perhaps the most challenged when it comes to finding spots where dogs can run wild and enjoy the great outdoors or find spots to socialize with other dogs. For dog-owners who live in apartment buildings and don’t have any garden spaces, the challenge becomes even greater.
For that reason, we did some digging and asked our network of dog owners about where they prefer to take their dogs! It is a shame that places like Al-Shaheed Park don’t allow pets.
However, we believe that with proper awareness and education about pet-care in public spaces, establishments will soon allow pet-owners to bring along their beloved pets. We hope that this small list of tips helps!
The Beach:
The beach is ALWAYS a great idea! However, pet owners need to take heed to which public beach to frequent. Look for emptier, quieter beaches like Anjafa beach, or the small beach next to the Regency Hotel in Al-Bida’a – these are ideal as they are usually well maintained. Watch out for beaches that are often littered with trash.
If the beach is full of people, a longer leash might be ideal to avoid altercations with un-friendly beach-goers and other dogs. If you really want your dog to have a better time, set up a play date! Mimi and Monty always have a blast when they’re together:
While summer is upon us (just look outside), a visit to the beach in the late afternoon or early evening is a much better idea! During the winter season, the weather is much more mild, so dog walks along the beach or the corniche boardwalk are never a bad plan!
Rocco here loves going to the beach! Here’s his post-beach-walk pose:
Here’s another picture of Rocco, just because… I mean… Look. At. That. Face.
NEW! Luna & Beau
This pet store is more than just a place to shop. Luna & Beau, located in Shuwaikh, has a boutique, café, a daycare, grooming service and more! But the best part is the little sanctuary that has been created for pet lovers, so you and your pooch can enjoy a weekend afternoon lounging about.
The Corniche area by the Scientific Center:
Just to be clear, dogs are NOT allowed on that patch of grass by the Scientific Center. While this is a disappointment, the area all around the museum is dog-friendly and the boardwalk from there, up until Marina Walk or Marina Waves, has plenty of patches of grass that are all public domain. We love taking our dogs here! I mean, look at how happy Tyson is.
The Pier across from the Seif Strip:
You can’t go wrong here. Grab your favorite breakfast fare (we prefer a batch of foul and falafel sandwiches), your coffee tumbler, and head to that beautiful pier that’s across from the Seif Strip. Somehow, you always see it, but you rarely think to park there. It’s so serene, and your dog will enjoy the walk! Mimi loves it!
NEW! WILD COFFEE BAR
If you are walking your furry friend Salmiya and are looking to grab a bite and some good coffee then head on over the WILD COFFEE BAR, located at the edge of Block 6. Besides being very pet-friendly, they also organize adventure trips around the world with their “Find the Wild” program.
The Dogdom Socialization class at Petzone:

NEW! The Pet Lobby
While The Pet Lobby is a great place to visit for your dog’s supplies or for their regular grooming, it also frequently hosts events that range from socializing to training to more! They’re located in Shuwikh Industrial One – Block 6 – Street 5.
K’S-PATH’s ‘Bark in the Park’:
Note: K’S PATH’s “Bark in the Park” events have not been scheduled at the moment. Please visit their Instagram for more details.
Following the tremendous success of K’S-PATH’S previous editions of “Bark in the Park”, they even created the awesome dog-centric event – “Bark in the Park Carnival. We personally love all of their “Bark in the Park” events. This unique fundraising event is a great fun day out for dogs and their human families to spend quality time together. If you missed the “Bark in the Park” event, you can still opt for the Ahmadi South Public Park for outdoor excursions! Follow their latest updates on Instagram @kspathq8.
NEW! K9 Cafe
Here’s another Shuwaikh spot that is quite dog-friendly – in fact, that’s their selling point! K9 Cafe invites dog owners to “pet and sip” and frequently feature profiles of dogs and their “hooman” on their Instagram profile.
NEW! Richard’s Coffee Bar
Your favorite coffee place is dog-friendly! Richard’s Coffee Bar has an outdoor seating area that dogs and their owners often frequent with their cup of joe!
