We are delighted to reveal our collaboration with three amazing female artists. For the Love of Art, a collection of personal and unique pieces for the home, will include graphic cushions, blankets, alluring ceramics, and decorative posters.
To cherish and support smaller arts and crafts, we’ve teamed up with three amazing artists and created a collection of personal and unique pieces for your home. All the talented artists have their own unique profession and characteristics and will take out their art on various H&M HOME items.
The creative duo Sacrée Frangine brings together two childhood friends, Célia Amroune and Aline Kpade. Their minimalistic illustrations in warm colours, created in their studio in Paris, show us the beauty of sisterhood, motherhood, and womanhood. The work of Sacrée Frangine is inspired by people — especially other women — and feminine themes that explore the beauty of simple things and everyday life.
“Our pieces in the collection are gentle reminders to take time. Take time to dream, to contemplate a beautiful landscape, to smile, to spend time with people you love or miss,” says the creative duo Sacrée Frangine.
Sacrée Frangine will present their art on a unique selection of alluring ceramics, such as our beautiful large vase with terracotta coloured glaze, decorative vases, perfect for your harvest bouquets, and a candle with rattan lid and a lovely scent of patchouli.
Brunna Mancuso creates her beautiful art in her studio in São Paolo, Brazil. The posters in the collab are made in various techniques — watercolour, gouache, and acrylics — and portrait Brunna’s favourite motive: women.
“We are so powerful and delicate at the same time. I like to explore that in my work through the expressive brush strokes, the textures, the shapes, and colours. I’d love it if every woman on the planet felt as confident as the women I paint,” says Brunna Mancuso.
Brunna’s wonderful artwork has been turned into a selection of appealing posters, all with beautiful female motives that will decorate your wall with charming and expressive elegance.
The visual language of Italian-Nigerian Berlin-based artist Diana Ejaita is vibrant and unique. Her use of silhouettes in dramatic and contrasting colours has put her work on the cover of some of the world’s most respected magazines, telling us stories of lineage, culture, and nature. What makes her illustrations stand out is a combination of contrasting areas of black and white with soft patterns and textures that create images that portray the strength of femininity.“For this collection, I was thinking of people being in dialogue with the environment; messages that inspire us to make choices in respect of nature. I think these types of reflections are fundamental nowadays,” says Diana Ejaita.
Diana’s art has been placed on a selection of textiles for the home, including embroidered cushion covers – an eye-catcher on any couch – and soft jacquard woven blankets.
We asked the fabulous designers what their favorite item was and what their process looked like to learn more about the collaboration and collection.
You are known for your portraits of women that appear to be feminine yet empowered at the same time, how do you create that balance in art?
Brunna: For me, basically, it’s all about the mix between the look in their eyes and the aesthetic choices I made, such as the color palette and the texture I seek through the medium of my choice, like watercolor, gouache etc… the attitude is empowering, but the way I present it, somehow delicate, makes all the difference.
You are already a team of two people, so collaboration is already part of your work flow, how different or similar was it to collaborate with H&M HOME?
Aline and Célia: Collaborations are a big part of our work. We like to see new ideas and projects emerge through the meeting of different savoir-faire. Suggest, share, exchange; it’s a multi-hand work on each step. From the first brief and sketches until the samples. This is especially what we liked about this project For the Love of Art with H&M HOME. We were free to create and offer a universe and themes that are close to us.
Did you discuss your ideas with the other artists? How collaborative was the process?
Brunna: I have not been in direct contact with the other artists from this collaboration, but I love how our artwork plays together in the campaign! Nowadays I share a space with other fellow artists and it’s so refreshing having someone to talk about the perks of being an artist in this world! But in the matter of my process, after so many years painting the portrait, I feel like I found my way to express myself on my own! But it sure is fun to have friends to talk to, especially when the outcome in an artwork is not as I expected, for example.
Your art will be featured on ceramics and vases, how different is it designing for flat surfaces, compared to objects that are not and will be used in everyday life?
Aline and Célia: We are used to work on paper. Here, we had fun working on the shapes and texture of the ceramics. We chose warm and bright backgrounds with a matte finish and an imperfect touch with irregularities that echoes the grained paper we generally use for our illustrations. We also wanted to offer a collection with very different volumes and shapes in order to find an overall harmony and be able to display them both individually and in range. We absolutely loved the experience and seeing our designs come to life in 3D!
What is your favorite piece from the collection and why?
Aline: My favorite piece is the landscape vase. I love its soft and colorful shapes. This piece invites me to escape and reminds me of beautiful moments, like a sweet throwback to the rocky mountains of the south of France or the sunrise on Mount Batur.
Célia: My favorite one would be the table centerpiece with fruits. This piece reminds me of some warm summer lunches, surrounded by family and friends, laughing while sharing a sunny meal time.
Brunna: I think the black and white one, because it was the most unexpected! I did it as a study and I sure find it really expressive (and I value that so much) but having a brand as H&M HOME noticing it was really surprising for me.. It shows me that I’m on the right track in the matter of posting and sharing my work over the internet even if it’s not a “master piece”, if you know what I mean… But at the same time, “Ella” is also a favorite. I didn’t sell this painting! Kept it for myself! 🙂
The collection will be available in selected stores and on kw.hm.com from 7 October with prices starting from KD 10.99.
