The circus is an age-old tradition mankind has frequented in some form or the other since the early ages. A fantasy land where imagination knows no bounds, and where frontiers do not exist, it is where tradition meets innovation to weave together a colorful tapestry of artistic creativity. For as long as memory serves, the circus has been an exciting outlet for family-friendly entertainment. It speaks a universal language that has captivated and enthralled audiences around the world, adapting itself to suit current trends and values, while maintaining older traditions near and dear to its repertoire.
Here to give us the ultimate experience of Circus-going is the Touristic Enterprises Company (TEC), who has partnered with the world-renowned Cirque Madona Bouglione, to keep us all enthralled and entertained with the brand new original circus show, The Golden Age. This bespoke show was commissioned by TEC and designed exclusively for Kuwait. Tailored to cater to the cultural sensitives and sensibilities of the country, this entertainment spectacle delivers a unique, world-class artistic experience to the people of Kuwait, right here at home.
To bring this magnificent show to life, TEC chose to work with the Cirque Madona Bouglione: a contemporary circus that brings with it the 100 year old legacy of the Bouglione family, one of the oldest and most famous names in the circus world in France.
Better yet? The venue! It’s going to be held at the ultimate throwback location of all time in Kuwait, Doha’s Entertainment City.
With The Golden Age, TEC and the Cirque Madona Bouglione, invite you to take a magical journey through time and space, to see the beauty and wonder of our world through the eyes of the circus. Celebrating all things traditional and fantastical about the circus, The Golden Age tells the story of the circus itself, while paying tribute to one of the world’s most beloved art forms through a dazzling display of acrobatics and performance arts.
The story of the circus is told through the eyes of the heroine, who is whisked away on a journey through the ancient, modern and even futuristic traditions of the circus. The Golden Age invites the audience to go along on this surreal ride, guided by the beloved clowns, representing the origins and traditions of the circus.
Another great thing about this show is its international infusion. With involvement from artists and crew members from all over the world, The Golden Age is made up of an array of 75 artists and crew members coming together from countries such as France, Russia, Colombia, the United States, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Italy, Romania, Spain, and even Kuwait – to bring the show to life. This in and of itself makes the sentiment of this circus show all the more special, giving it a meaningfulness heard globally, as well as international appeal to the masses.
As for the performance itself, to go with the engaging storyline, the show features a medley of classic circus acts that have been updated with delicious modern twists. In The Golden Age, our Little Heroine witnesses the glories of the traditional circus, creating a magical world within her mind, and before our eyes. Included are the graceful, aerial acrobatics of the French Swing and Aerial Straps, the aristocratic showmanship of the sophisticated equestrians, the droll humor and ageless wisdom of the clowns, as well as the fearless bravado of the stunt bikers. There’s also a throng of other interesting characters to follow during this journey, filled with great surprises in between. Acts to look out for include:
