Since launching GRIN only a couple of years ago, talented artist and jewelry designer Anne Gedeon continues to deliver on her promise of statement pieces for the fearless woman. Her inspirations are not trend-dominated, making GRIN a definitive trend-setting brand for the confident fashionista. Anne might not devoutly follow fashion trends, yet she surely has an eye for bespoke pieces dubbed as art for the ear, finger, neck and hands. She adds, “I get my voluntary updates from my fashion conscious sis, Amanda, who created BOW designs. However, having said that, I respect Karen Erickson and Vicki Beamon’s thought-provoking style. The duo really works well together, and I absolutely love Tom Binns’ maximalism and Alexis Bittar’s and Bounkits craftsmanship.”
Showcasing her fierce SS13 collection, we observe an eclectic mix of inspirations in the form of edgy supersized rings in the FingerArt range. As for NekArt, the fringed and tassled CHINCHIN necklace can be worn in a myriad of ways, and the iconic I LOVE ROMA piece reflects an affair with Italian extravagance. Expect to see elements of Rome’s street-style chic, feminine and bold experimentations with chains, a tantalizing palette of gold, rose and grey and an ode to the iconic Madonna, circuit 1990.We speak to Anne about her experience and, and her thoughts about the SS13.
Can you tell us about your experience with GRIN since you launched?
It’s all consuming to build a brand from scratch. It has been challenging at times but always exciting!
How does Rome’s street style play into your Spring Summer collection?
It resonates ‘rugged romanticism’, one of the inspirations behind this collection..
Tell us about the materials you chose to work with for this collection.
I experimented a lot with different types of chains like box chain, fringe and tassels, barbed wire and net – sometimes in austere representations but other times in lighter more playful mimics. For the GRINlite line, I mixed it up with fun combinations of semi-precious stones and Swarovski elements on materials like silicone and felt. For this collection’s GRINchic line, texture and the trio-plating palette of yellow, pink and black rhodium (grey) played a big role.
How would you style your Spring-Summer collection?
The beauty of this collection is that every piece can be worn on a white tank, jeans and a pair of Converse shoes, and can also be worn on a chic dress and a pair of Louboutins!
Any favorite pieces? If so, which ones and why.
Each piece reflects a different part of my personality…so it really depends on my mood!
