The warmer seasons of 2017 give us something to look forward to. Even in the hottest of countries, style is a fun way for men, women and children alike to express their respective individuality through garments that work with current temperatures; and what better source to find that style inspiration from than the worldwide renowned Fashion House H&M?
This Spring, ladies can find themselves inspired and excited by H&M Studio’s SS17 Ladies Collection, curated for women in a theme celebrating the power, strength, grace and vibrancy of the fairer gender: ballet.
The grace and romance of ballet and the passions of sport convey a message of love at H&M Studio. Femininity, volume and traditional techniques are mixed with the functionality and high-tech details of sportswear to create a fresh and modern clash.
Imagine the ballet dancer backstage, matching her traditional costume with sportswear pieces to build a wardrobe of contrasts, bridging the resonance of history with the simplicity of modern lines.
This season, comfort makes a strong appearance with fabrics consisting of organic cotton, silk jacquards, delicate fine knits and nylons. Breathability is key!
The trend of details features vintage meets modern with a lot of renaissance influence: frills are your friends, and flares have not been forgotten! And don’t doubt the drawstrings, which will bring the ultimate vibe of dancer-chic.
Combining black and white is all the rage in this collection, with pops of vibrant color to embrace the warmer weather. These colors are incorporated throughout the entire collection, from tops to bottoms, and key accessories such as the black trekking sandals, whimsical slip-on flats, and the quintessential black leather headband, giving you the “I just worked out and still look awesome” low key fabulousness to put it all together.
Intrigued? We are too! The highly anticipated collection will be featured at a fashion show during the upcoming Paris Fashion week, but we have a sneak peek of some of the looks that will be shown at the fashion show, featuring pieces that will be available for purchase upon the collection’s release.
The Comfortably Chic: This look consists of a roomy, black racer back maxi dress made with a breathable nylon material, featuring an adjustable drawstring at the bottom hem. Paired with flat black trekking sandals and a black leather headband to complete the look. Ideal for an outdoor lunch, après pool socializing, and casual garden parties.
Classic and Cool: Comprised of a woven silk jacquard tank with frills around sleeve, and paired beautifully with a full length black silk dungaree skirt for a modern-meets-classic look. This look is a true head-turner that can be worn for casual or dressier occasions.
Corporate Casual: This relaxed, woven jacquard silk set is literally filled with love, in the style of small printed “love” text emulating a striped design throughout. Paired with double-waisted matching trousers, slip into some comfortable flat black trekking sandals to enjoy this look on a casual workday at the office. Don’t forget the season’s absolute necessity: the leather black headband!
Lady Louis: Inspired by Louis XIV, ruffles and delicate stitching make the most out of this adorable number. Ruffles showcase their femininity at the collar and sleeves, and modern ribbed detailing is continuous throughout the bodice. For extra comfort and that easy-to-wear casual touch, drawstrings are featured at the waist. The perfect ensemble for a lovely lunch, or a leisurely afternoon spent shopping.
“This is a collection about love, a positive message of hope and optimism. Knowledge of the past mixed with the energy of today creates a path to a new future,” says Pernilla Wohlfart, H&M’s Design and Creative Director.
