You don’t need a reason for ordering the spiciest item on the menu! But International Hot and Spicy Food Day is today (January 16th) and we can’t let that go to waste! We’ve rounded up some of our favorite fire-in-your-mouth, tears-in your-eyes dishes. You might want to have some milk or ice cream around, just in case!

Kababji: While Lebanese food is not notable for being too-hot-to-handle, Kababji makes a mean Spicy Kabab that is served as a platter or a sandwich making it a very convenient option.

Ubon: Feeling more worldly? Then maybe some Thai food is in order. The Thai word Tom translates to hot and Ubon’s Tom Yum does not disappoint. The sourness coupled with the heat makes it a dish that can deliver.

Sabaidee: Maybe you don’t really feel like soup, a Papaya salad is a great alternative. Sabaidee makes such an inviting colorful one that appears innocent, but is anything but. And salads are healthy too, right?

Bonchon: If you aren’t avoiding calorie-laden fried foods because you have more self-discipline than us, try some Korean chicken. Bonchon’s crispy chicken buns and their crispy chicken drums come in small bite-sized packages but can pack a punch.

Texas Roadhouse: Everything is bigger in Texas, as the saying goes. But the blaze in your mouth will be bigger than Texas after you have had some Campfire Ribs from Texas Roadhouse. Tabasco and chilli peppers make these quite fiery.
Shake Shack: Not everyone enjoys ribs, but who doesn’t love a good burger. Try the Green Chilli Cheddar Burger from Shake Shack. A blend of marinated poblano, jalapeño, and sport peppers are the perfect partners for the sharp cheddar. A burger that is sizzling, tangy and zesty.

Taco Bell: Mexican restaurants are next on our list of hot-hot-hot dishes. Taco Bell’s Volcano Bowl is the perfect alternative to a taco or a burrito. It offers the same amazing flavours, minus all the messiness. Mexican rice as a base, chicken steak beef), jalapeño, salad, sour cream, crispy taco strips and spicy mayo sauce. We are really craving a bowl right now! If you still want a taco, get a Volcano Taco. The bright red taco shell is a dead giveaway of how blazing it is.
[We get it, tacos are so wonderful, we even went on a hunt to find the best in Kuwait. Solo Tacos, En Mexico, Mama Lita and Azteca all made the list and are totally worth a visit.]

Dabbawala: For an on-the-go option, Dabbawala’s Tandoori Tikka sandwiches or Potato Bonda, spicy mashed potatos are both great.

Before you go, don’t forget about Kuwait’s local offering, ma’abooch. The red paste is made by grinding up red chili peppers, garlic, salt and a touch of lemon juice. It is used as a condiment mostly with rice. If you have never tried it you can find it at supermarkets or just try making it at home.
We couldn’t help it! We had to leave you with one of the most iconic ads from the 80s. Have you guessed it?
