The Kuwait Society for the Protection of Animals and Their Habitat (K”S PATH), the first animal welfare and habitat protection organization in Kuwait to be accorded official status as a legal society by the Kuwait Ministry of Social Affairs, will hold its September Volunteer Orientation on Saturday the 5th at the K’S PATH Wafra Shelter. The orientation will acquaint new volunteers with K’S PATH’s programs, policies and procedures, and volunteer opportunities. This will be followed by a shelter tour and training workshop for volunteers. The orientation is open to adults and children who care about animals, the environment and are keen to work with animals; as well as those who would like to help with tasks that do not necessarily involve animals like event management and graphic designing. “We are a small staff team caring for more than 300 animals at the shelter. Volunteering is a great way to support the work we do by committing your time and skills, and giving back to society,” says K’S PATH Vice Chairperson and Executive Director Sheikha Fatima M. Al Sabah. “This year, we are glad to introduce training workshops for new volunteers to enable them to support us in the way we would like to be supported. The workshops cover basic animal care like handling, grooming and socializing dogs and cats. In the months to come, we will launch our comprehensive volunteer management program to build a strong community of dedicated volunteers.” To date, K’S PATH has secured over 600 volunteers helping across a wide range of tasks including dog walking, dog socialization, cat socialization, cat grooming, equine grooming, beach cleanups, event management and office administration. Volunteer Orientations will be held once every two months starting September 2015.
Those interested in signing up for the orientation can do so by emailing volunteers@kspath.org, or go to their website for more information.
