We love the fresh air! The weather in Kuwait permits daytime out-door dining for only a few precious months a year. We still brave the heat in the hotter months after sunset but right now we are loving getting our Vitamin D fix. This blissful state is fleeting, so check out some of our current faves before you can’t!
Maize Restaurant and Cafe might be an unexpected choice but they have a huge terrace on the first floor in Vibes Complex in Abu Al Hasaniya. The menu is full of mezzes, main dishes and desserts from the Mediterranean to keep you warm while you enjoy the sunshine. If shisha is your thing they have some very interesting looking ones too.
And while Souq Sharq has many fantastic outdoor options we also love the view of the complex itself as seen from Magma. The menu leans heavily towards sharing dishes so you can easily have all of your favorites without feeling guilty or too stuffed (or not).
For a different kind of water show, the fountains at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center are perfect. It doesn’t matter how many times you have seen dancing fountains, you will stop and watch every time. We think it is the fluidity of motion coupled with the music. Resistance is futile. Luckily, there is a ton of amazing restaurants to choose from.
This eatery ticks so many boxes for us. Japanese, check! Robata, check! Outdoors, check! Dancing fountain, check! White Robata specialize in progressive Japanese fireside grilling. They accept walk-ins, but reservations are always advisable.
Murouj definitely has some fantastic outdoors eateries and Mana is one of our favorites. With the different Mexican inspired, travel infused dishes you will find something that will probably delight and surprise you.
Another Murouj location to check out is Beit Shoukri, for some authentic Egyptian home-style cooking!
Murouj also offers lush foilage and Khaneen does not disappoint as an outdoor destination. We love listening to the old music while being surrounded with all the memorabilia. The traditional Kuwaiti dishes just add to the trip down memory lane, all done while enjoying the fresh air. We really couldn’t ask for more.
In the heart of Kuwait city is Ananas Equatorial Bar. Mostly a coffee and juice bar, but they serve sandwiches and cookies. We absolutely love their decor! The colonial vibe, the banana leaf ceiling fans and the arched windows that let the light in tempt us. But what we really want is to enjoy their little urban garden and a bowl of their yummy homemade granola Power Bowls. The cozy space, feels like a great way to escape the city without ever having to leave it.
If you are craving traditional Lebanese dishes then head to Ahwet Zeitouna. Classic dishes made with love and care served with a side of beach-front view. Whether you want coffee and sweets, brunch or a fulfilling lunch, it is all there. The playful sound of the waves is the perfect backdrop for some shisha and catchup time with your friends.
If you hear the sea calling your name, head on over to Prime & Toast at Marina Walk. Watching the waves roll by is so calming and relaxing. Wether you decide to go for breakfast or lunch the view is always amazing. Even in the hottest summer months it is still pleasant after the sun has set. We love their breakfast menu, mostly for the nut butters. Nuts are totally healthy, right?
For a slightly more upscale option, try Mint at the Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel and Spa. With a view of the private beach, it screams exclusivity and privacy. Hit the gym and spa first then reward yourself with a relaxing brunch or candlelit dinner.
If you thought we had forgotten about enjoying the greenery, we haven’t. We have been loyal Terazzo fans since we first had their Berasola Pizza. Located in Al Shaheed park it has a wonderful view of the amphitheater.
What are you waiting for? Grab a friend and head out for the great outdoors!
