Since 2013, Meme’s Curry began its inspiring journey with Chef Shehab Al-Attar. Rising from a business that started at home, with the help of social media and pop-ups, to Kuwait’s first and favorite destination for Japanese Curry.
With three locations in Kuwait alone, Meme’s truly proved throughout the years to be the people’s go-to for the taste of a savoring Japanese Curry. Located in Hawally, Salmiya, and Abu Hasaniya, the restaurant presents an urban-like dining experience to loyal and new customers alike. There’s even an interactive artistry wall for those who’d like to display their creative artworks at their locations!
Meme’s menu itself is filled with classical Japanese dishes and infusions. Starting with the Meme Fries and Stingers, two extremely popular appetizers. The Fries are not your regular side fries, they’re topped with Meme’s addictive curry sauce, mozzarella cheese, and sweet soya sauce with crispy pieces of chicken. While the Stingers are cooked in a special blend of oils for the result of a perfect crunchy chicken Katsu strips, with the additional sesame sauce adds a new depth of flavor.
The mains, however, this is where it gets tricky. The entirety of main dishes are all ever so delightfully delicious, and the decision of choosing a main becomes an impossible mission! Be it Udon, ramen, crepe or waffles or yummy rice, all are incredibly unique dishes nudging us towards taking a leap of curry faith, and eventually decide on a main based on the mood of the day.
Yet, the famous main dish remains to be the Meme’s Monster. A dome consisting of Japanese rice, with Katsu chicken, melted mozzarella cheese, and to intensify the extravaganza of flavors, top it off with Shehab’s Way sauce. If you’re seeking a slurp of curry, then look no further than Meme’s Ebi Udon. Japanese imported noodles, cooked in a divine soupy curry sauce with panko fried Ebi golden shrimp. Plus, if you’re a fan of grilled chicken, you can easily ask and switch to grilled rather than fried Katsu Chicken.
Meme’s Curry also serve a variety of ramens, beef, katsu, ebi, and grilled chicken. We can already hear the endless slurp sounds made by lead anime characters, from Naruto to Ponyo. They make us want to dive into these ramen dishes, and experience nostalgic scenes that we all admired from the screen as kids.
We rarely see dishes of chicken and waffles in Kuwait, let alone homemade waffles with chicken katsu and curry. Be warned though, at Meme’s, you must specify the amount of curry spiciness in all of their dishes as they literally have a level of deathly spiciness that will light your taste palates on fire.
The homemade waffles are also included on Meme’s dessert section, along with delicate crepes. Either Nutella or Lotus for a drizzling sweet sauce, with or without ice cream (but we say, always with ice cream). If you ordered your dishes spicy, dessert at Meme’s is the perfect way to cool down. We love us some waffles with ice cream, because, really, who can say no to waffles?
Perhaps what we love the most about this concept is how Meme’s Curry managed to always keep up the product quality at their restaurant, regardless of the location you choose to dine in, and how they’ve maintained the loyalty of their customers ever since they started at 2013. This has led the concept towards growing a successful brand that is naturally becoming Kuwait’s only destination for a tasteful Japanese curry, complete with a cozy ambiance to enjoy an urban dining experience inspired from the land of the rising sun.
