What experience most defined your decision and desire to get into the food industry?
My affinity for the Japanese culture grew deeper as I visited Japan and was acquainted with the county’s refined cuisine and deep-rooted traditions. This affinity, paired with my love for cuisine in general, caused me to decide to open my own Japanese fusion restaurant that served a unique and original menu.
Where is your favorite place to shop for food and ingredients in Kuwait?
I like to shop at several gourmet outlets in Kuwait. Any supermarket that sells exotic and healthy ingredients would be an ideal target for me to shop at.
What food most reminds you of your mother’s house, and why?
My mother is a really good cook who makes great Mediterranean stews and loves to cook seafood. These two items, along with cheeses and zaatar mostly remind me of my mother’s house.
When you want to go somewhere else to eat, where do you go and why?
Frankly speaking, I never get tired of eating at my own restaurant where we work diligently on presenting the most original, innovative, and exotically healthy dishes. However, when I travel, I like to visit contemporary restaurants that are run by visionary chefs. My favorite of course would be Japanese fusion and traditional restaurants.
Who in the world would you most like to cook for?
My family. It is always great to share a home-cooked meal with them.
If you were to leave Kuwait and could take only one kitchen gadget with you, what would it be?
It would be a sharp sushi knife to cut my fresh seafood.
