Monki is a brand that has embraced all forms of social matters and represents these causes in stunning fashion wear. From adopting issues like feminism, to their most recent and second collaboration with Mental Health Europe.
To this very day, mental health is a subject that is not always taken into consideration or is thought of as ‘taboo’, when in fact, it should be fully embraced, and the space for discussion needs to be carved out to build a constructive dialogue.
Mental health is important at every stage of a person’s life, from childhood to adulthood.
Mental Health Europe is a non-governmental organization that functions as a networking group within Europe. The organization is also committed to promoting positive health. Mental Health Europe works closely with different groups to help end the stigma that surrounds mental health.
The first collaboration between Monki and Mental Health Europe was titled ‘All the feels’. It was essentially an exploration of social media, and its potential, plus the multiple effects it may have on young people’s mental health nowadays.
The Swedish brand continues to encourage people to take this particular conversation further by exploring the topic, and its impact on daily life.
Managing Director of Monki, Jennie Dahlin Hansson says “Empowering young women is at the core of everything we do at Monki. We are very proud to continue our collaboration with Mental Health Europe, and hope to encourage our community to express themselves and their feelings without fear.”
‘Embrace your feels’ comes in as the second collaboration, and Monki truly took the campaign to new heights.
They’ve created three amazing and hugely inspiring short films which revolve around different emotions, from feelings of happiness, sadness, to simply feeling everything all at once.
The aim of these three short films is to display and reiterate that all of these feelings are well-founded, and completely valid.
The campaign aims to evolve the discussion on mental health awareness, and Monki is accompanying that by releasing four limited edition t-shirts.
Each and every t-shirt has a message to deliver a statement, whether you are the wearer or the viewer. Two different prints come in with the collaboration statement, which is ‘Embrace your feels’, as see in the featured image above.
The other two t-shirts also state a longer manifesto that supports self-care, and offers tips at the same time,
“Maybe you’re sad, maybe you’re happy. Maybe you’re feeling nothing or everything, all at once. Either way, always try to be gentle with yourself. Whatever you’re feeling is OK. What’s normal anyway? Normal is a boring word. We’re lonely, we cry. We laugh, we love. Being human is complex. Embrace it all.”
The campaign and collaboration shed light on an important subject that requires our immediate attention. ‘Embrace your feels’ is more than just a line on a t-shirt, it’s a message that is meant to be accepted by everyone who is experiencing mental health hardships on a daily basis, worn by those who are simply willing to showcase their support, and informing to start a conversation. Respect!
