We all look forward to starting our day with a steaming hot cup of Nespresso coffee, but feel a twinge of guilt when we see the number of capsules we have accumulated and have no idea how to safely dispose of them.
Well Kuwait, Nespresso is now launching its first recycling program in the Kuwait and are offering very easy solutions, which means no more excuses on our end!
Nespresso is in fact the first global coffee brand in the Middle East to instigate a bespoke recycling program for its product refuse.
There are many ways to go about it. Customers can recycle their Nespresso capsules by visiting any of their Boutiques across Kuwait starting March 27.
For those who order their new capsules to their homes, they can have their used capsules picked up when they receive their delivery,
Offices, restaurants and hotels can also sign up for the capsule pick-up service.
This program of course has been in development for a while. Since Nespresso capsules cannot be recycled through traditional methods, Nespresso decided to invest in creating its own device.
How does the device work? It can recycle up to 8,000 aluminum capsules per hour, separating the coffee grounds from the aluminum. The aluminum will then go through a smelting process and can be recycled infinitely to make new aluminum products, while the coffee grounds will be used as a natural fertilizer for agriculture and gardening at a local farm in Kuwait.
In Kuwait, the operation will be managed by MRC, a local eco-industrial company.
Nespresso has a capsule collection capacity of over 92% across more than 44 countries, with Kuwait joining the global recycling program.
It’s all part of Nespresso’s Positive Cup program, which focuses on three distinct pillars of responsible coffee sourcing, responsible managed aluminum and carbon footprint reduction.
Nespresso offers recycling solutions in 7 MENA countries and plans to expand this further.
Nespresso Boutiques in Kuwait are located in The Avenues, 360 Mall, Al Kout Mall. There is a Nespresso booth at Al Hamra Mall as well. For more information on Nespresso follow them @Nespresso.
