Nuqat presents We Are the Artwork, a workshop sponsored by Snaprints that puts you in the center of the piece. Participants will get a chance to be part of a collective art piece. Each artist will develop their own part of the larger project. In the end they will come together to create a collage assembly on the wall. The final project will be a combination of various portraits of the participants mixed with calligraphy.
Why?
The objective is to introduce the participants to light calligraphy and light painting techniques. Through this workshop they will be part of a street art installation that has never been done before. It’s the combination of light calligraphy, graphic design, calligraphy and street collage. The finished artwork will remain a permanent street art piece in Kuwait.
How?
Karim will create a portrait for each one of the participants using the light calligraphy technique.
Karim will, along with the participants, prepare an old kufi giant calligraphy that they will vectorize and keep for the final piece.
Once all the portraits are done we will collectively assemble them all in one single image. On that image we will combine the already made Old Kufi calligraphy in order to have one single image.
The image will be printed on a large scale and prepared for the next step.
The final step will be to use the collage technique and give everyone the chance to contribute to the wheat pasting of the final image to create a street art installation
