The bazaar team has a confession to make. We’re absolutely obsessed with ordering takeout for lunch. Even more so, we’re completely obsessed with ordering from Q at The Yard. With our constant attempts at eating healthy, we find that Q at The Yard accommodates the choices we make, whether they be wholesome or indulgent, and any adjustments we request in order to follow our respective dietary needs and personal tastes. All it takes is our staff coordinator announcing “Guys, Q?” and the office buzzes with excitement, vehemently scrolling through their extensive menu on Talabat and putting in their orders.
We at bazaar, with our eclectic tastes, have collectively sampledalmost everything on Q’s menu, at the same time clinging to our favorites. Our serial dieting staff writers and content coordinator stick to healthy options of proteins and veggies with the occasional naughty side of buttered vegetables and cheesy grilled mushrooms. Personal favorites of ours are the gently spiced Caramelized Shrimp appetizer paired with a side of the Roasted Root Vegetables, and the succulent Roasted Salmon served on a bed of couscous with a side of spinach, and the loveliest, silkiest pot of lemony, buttery herb infused sauce that pairs perfectly with the meal. Our designer swears by the generously piled Stacked to Boost Club Sandwich consisting of grilled chicken, egg salad, cheese and lettuce served on toast. With a side of fresh, made to order fries (that those of us watching what we eat avoid making eye contact with since they look so tempting), expect the perfect crunch with every bite!
The Head Honcho of bazaar generally swoons over Q’s menu, ordering different dishes ranging from their Chicken Katsu, to their Shrimp Curry, to their Mushroom Burger, to their Shrimp Risotto. As our fearless leader puts it, “I think what’s most amazing about Q at The Yard is how vast their menu is – it’s wonderful that they’re able to include so many different dishes, and have them be so well made!” Their menu covers a dish inspired from most if not each region from the world, celebrating international cuisine and different strokes beautifully.
It only made sense for us to physically visit Q at The Yard’s stomping grounds in Kuwait City. Huddled in Jaber Al Mubarak Street and affiliated with The Yard, a kitschy lifestyle store, the space is as comfortable as we’d always imagined it to be. With dimmed lighting and delectable desserts on display – tantalizing pies and whole cakes just asking to be ordered and enjoyed with a cup of Vietnamese Coffee, this restaurant seems to be the ideal go-to spot for anyone who frequents the area for their 9 to 5.
Q at The Yard also offers a plethora of hot and cold drinks to be enjoyed with their lovely mains and tempting desserts, as well as small bites and an eclectic breakfast menu! They have also recently introduced Weekly Dessert Specials, highlighting a different dessert of the week, available every Thursday and through the weekend for dine-in guests.
The space has a lovely outdoor seating option for customers to enjoy seasonal beautiful weather the country has to offer, and to feel as though they’ve been transported from the busy streets of Kuwait City to a chic backstreet bistro in Paris or Manhattan.
Another great thing about Q at The Yard is that it’s such a laid back space where people could feel comfortable dining alone, stopping by during their lunch hour, after work and in between errands for a comfortable meal without any dining partners, and to catch up on some personal work projects.
After enjoying a hearty meal, snack, indulgent dessert or a refreshing pick-me-up beverage, customers can take advantage of the convenience of The Yard cleverly being a part of the restaurant. Feel free to browse and shop to your heart’s content with the colorful collection of unique everyday essentials ranging from living space accents, to artsy planners, personal office supplies and accessories and select publications from around the world, all in one beautiful space.
While we at bazaar will definitely continue to order from Q at The Yard on the regular, we will also be frequenting their home base in Kuwait City to dine-in, relax and shop. We will also remember to pick up one of their indulgent desserts – namely the Banoffee Tart – for our boss who keeps hounding us to add one of those bad boys to our almost-daily takeout orders. We hope to be seeing you there in the near future, Kuwait!
Q at The Yard, formerly known as Q Café, is located on Jaber Al Mubarak Street in Kuwait City’s Shurooq Tower. You can order online via Talabat, but we highly recommend in-person breakfast, lunch or dinner visits. Call them at 2249 5067/8 and follow them on Instagram @qattheyard.
