Photographers, get your cameras ready and assemble. Red Bull Illume is back with a new quest for the greatest imagery contest for adventure and action sports. The competition is presenting new categories, challenges, and prizes but before we give you all the details, set your calendar date. The submission phase is open from now until July 31st.
The competition essentially curates the most captivating images from all around the world, shedding light on the community and the culture of the photographers behind those amazing images. There’s also the addition of several new categories that include Best of Instagram by SanDisk, the Moving Image Category, and Emerging photo category by Red Bull Photography.
The judging panel alone consists of 50 photo editors and digital experts who will be responsible for selecting the 55 finalists. The winners will be divided within 11 categories and only one overall winner will all be revealed at the Winner Award Ceremony in November 2019. There are prize packages complete with camera equipment and accessories with a value of 100.000 Euros for both the category winners and the overall winner.
There are so many passionate photographers around the world, with images that are waiting to be seen and admired. Red Bull Illume Image Quest is the contest which will provide several opportunities, and immense exposure. You never know, you might actually be this year’s winner! As of 2016, a staggering 34,624 images were submitted by more than five thousand photographers from 120 countries.
Choose your image carefully before submitting it, as each category influences the judge’s selections. Judges will ultimately appraise your work based on a mixture of technicality, composition, creativity, impact, artistic flair, and the overall quality of a great and excellent photograph. Each and every photographer will know exactly which images will end up ticking all of the above categories.
The contest has its challenges, as well as its perks. Finalists will get together and be able to earn a place at the Winner Award Ceremony in November 2019. It is a three-day event full of workshops and celebrations to have reached that far. Once we enter 2020, the Global Exhibit Tour will be displaying images in three different continents within major cities. Finally, the images will also be part of a limited-edition coffee table book, where every photographer will have the chance to see their work as well as the work of their fellow photographers to physically hold in their hands and cherish.
Red Bull Illume Image Quest is a contest that engages and enables photographers around the globe to challenge themselves and expand their skills further and aim for higher. It essentially brings the community closer and provides endless opportunities and vital exposure to those who need it.
