The holidays may be over, but the fun doesn’t have to end! If you’re feeling a little blah after the festive season, you’re not alone. The transition back to everyday life can be tough, but it’s also the perfect time to try something new, spark joy, and keep the good vibes rolling into the new year.
From creative hobbies to outdoor adventures, we’ve rounded up 5 exciting ways to beat the post-holiday blues. Let’s turn that winter slump into a season of fun and fabulous memories!
Rebrand yourself: Some people like to have resolutions, we like to use the New Year to become a better version of ourselves. Take an afternoon off and create a vision board of who you want to be in 2025 and just start doing those things. Want to dress better? Go through your closet and put together more interesting outfits. Want to be smarter? Sign up for a class. It’s that simple. Just start!
Move: We all know that exercise makes you feel better, something about dopamine and serotonin, but we’re not here to lecture. We are here to say that movement doesn’t have to be a trip to the gym or a Zumba class. You can go bowling with your friends, challenge your siblings to a game of ultimate Frisbee, or take your friends bowling. If you are still stuck for ideas, put your shoes on and head out the door and go on a color walk. All you have to do is find the first red thing, then orange, then yellow, and keep going until you notice items from all the colors of the rainbow. You can either go home or start over.
Stalk your high school enemy: This has the potential of being a glorious success or a huge failure, but the risk-vs-reward is worth it. You know that girl who tormented you in high school? Look her up on Instagram and find out where she ended up in life. Odds are, she’s way more boring than she pretended to be when she was 16. If you’re very unlucky, and she’s living a much better life, you should now have the motivation to get up and get your life in order.
Plan your summer vacation: It’s a lot of fun planning a vacation without worrying about the details like budget and vacation days. Pick a destination, and create a two-week itinerary. Look at hotels, restaurants, activities and go all out creating the perfect getaway. We promise you, by the time you are done, you will feel much happier. Now look at all those things you wanted to do or try while you were on holiday, find local alternatives and go on an adventure closer to home.
Call an older relative: Pretend you’re an undercover reporter trying to uncover the family secrets and just ask curious questions. You might be surprised to learn more about your family’s interesting lore. And even if you don’t, talking to people is always fun.
