You’re probably wondering by now if social distancing is just the beginning of the bitter end. You might actually still be wondering what social distancing is and what it means, and that’s okay too.
In a nutshell, social distancing as a term has been coined by Public Health officials to limit the spread of highly contagious diseases and in this case, Covid19. Public policy dictates that all social distancing measures may vary from mild to more extreme ones, and right now, we’re still in Quarantine Lite. So there is truly no need to panic hoard, and there’s definitely no need to give in to all the doom on social media.
In everyday speak, social distancing means limiting your contact with others, working from home whenever possible, and only going out for essentials like groceries and medicines. We’re still traumatized by the massive panic buying that happened at supermarkets last week.
And Yes, the hair salon is closed and that balayage can wait.
Let’s focus on the bigger picture here:
We’re actually SUPER blessed to be in Kuwait amidst these unsettling times, as government entities are fully backing the Ministry of Health and collectively, the nation is proactively working day and night to mitigate the spread of Coronavirus and have taken excellent preventative measures to guarantee everyone’s safety. Basically, Kuwait is kicking corona butt so well, so it’s OUR responsibility to heed these measures and to stay safe, and STAY HOME.
We also know that life can’t stop, and this is why we came up with fun ways to spend time at home, cool games to pass the time solo or with family, and we’ve also compiled this guide to help you manage your #socialdistancinglife. Also #socialdistancingdiary on Twitter is such an entertaining hashtag, look it up!
The Basics
Cancel unnecessary plans and outings, and work from home (we have an awesome guide on how to do this here) if that option is available to you.
IF and when you do see people, avoid hugs, kisses, handshakes and opt for virtual calls and visits instead! Most social media apps now offer some form of video calling or another.
If you’re out grabbing necessities, we beg that you queue responsibly and keep a safe distance of at least 2-3 meters from those around you. Also, the Council of Ministers issued a decree that limits the number of people that could be present in restaurants and coffee shops at any given time.
Tune in to official channels only for updates on COVID-19 and don’t give in to shameless rumors! Not only is this punishable by law, but it also creates more stress when really, we need to stay calm as much as possible. Here are our go-tos:
