Spontini is a Milan-based pizzeria that has opened its doors at Kuwait’s biggest mall, The Avenues. While this is the first Spontini to be located in the Middle East, and as much as Kuwait is known for its foodies of different tastes preferences, but we can all agree on one thing: There is no such thing as too much pizza.
The restaurant was interestingly named after the Milano street where the original store has been located since 1953. A small shop that continued to feed the Milanese during the economic boom of the post-war years, Spontini’s concept is simple, but surely delicious. A slice of pizza that is prepared in iron pans and baked to perfection in wood-fired ovens, Spontini has been using the same recipe with pure Italian ingredients for decades, offering us an unforgettable dining experience.
At Spontini, there are two different entrances. One entrance is meant for taking a quick slice to go, which is an attributed philosophy that has always accompanied selling pizza by the slice. This experience is exceptional, transporting you to the streets of Milan, where during a day of shopping and sight-seeing, you quickly stop for an energizing slice of pizza before you continue on with your excursions.

The other entrance, on the other hand, provides for a beautiful space with both indoors and outdoors seating areas. Basically, you get the best of both worlds at Spontini. An added fun feature lies on the side of the restaurant, where you can gaze endlessly at the clear glass as the masters prepare the daily dosage of sauce and dough.
The handmade slice itself is incredibly fulfilling due to its thick dough. Making one slice more than enough, but that’s debatable because again, there’s no such thing as too much pizza! The star item at Spontini is the classical Margherita Pizza, but get yours with the extra cheese offering. So, rejoice all cheese lovers, for there’s not only one Margherita love, but two.
Once you’ve decided on the slice of your liking, from there you get to choose your toppings. Be it vegetarian, or our favorite, a pizza slice topped with flavorful chicken. You can also have another kind of topping depending on your taste, as on the table there’s a variety of infused oils. Three specifically containing chili, garlic, and basil. Along with chili flakes and hot sauce on the side, for an extra spicy kick on that slice of pizza.

Another dish that we loved on the menu at Spontini is the lasagna. Well-proportioned to share, this dish is perfect if you’re not busy consuming a fabulously made pizza. So if you’re sharing, you don’t even need to compromise on what to order! Because really, who could say no to cheese-pulling goodness from your chosen pizza slice, and a layered pasta classic for the ultimate nostalgic feeling?
Finally, to complete this made-in-Italy meal, a creamy Tiramisu with a shot of espresso will get you out of the cheese-induced food coma. Not that we were ever complaining. After all of this delicious consumption, it is just about the required happy ending for a filling, hearty meal at Spontini.
