With the Balayage & Ombre Color techniques being in the forefront for a few years, it’s safe to say the trends aren’t going anywhere – for a long while. So naturally, beau-tique cosmetics international hosted a three-day TONI&GUY Color Workshop in their newly opened TONI&GUY hair • beauty Villa in CLIFFS Residential Tower in Salmiya. This Color Workshop, attended by TONI&GUY Kuwait’s six Color Technicians, was conducted by multi award winning Colorist and TONI&GUY’s International Artistic Director Siobhan Golden.
TONI&GUY’s internationally renowned Artistic Team represents a culmination of talent and creativity that is a contributing factor to the overall global success of the brand. Their many British Hairdressing Award wins are testament to their excellence. Seen as TONI&GUY’s finest, the International Artistic Team are highly experienced group who showcase their skills at a level, which ensure the company remains the industry leader. Siobhan Golden is a key educator and the latest addition to the Technical Artistic Team. Ms. Golden is also the winner of the L’Oreal Color Trophy – London Young Colorist Award, Breakthrough Team Social Media Award and overall runner up in 2013, as well as the Trend Vision Bronze Winner for the UK in 2012.
Siobhan Golden spent those three days concentrating on the Transient Color Techniques that are a part of TONI&GUY’s latest Educational Course – FUTURE FOUNDATION. Each day she focused on the three different techniques with careful demonstrations: Balayage, Ombre and TONI&GUY’s exclusive Lumi- Ombrage technique. The morning sessions consisted of technique demonstrations, and that includes sectioning, color mixing, hair painting, and processing. All the trainees got to do a morning and afternoon session with the models to practice their newly learnt techniques under the supervision of Ms. Golden. Preparation for the training was an exciting experience. It took a lot of planning and careful selection to get the perfect profiles for each of the 50 models required for these three days.
About the Techniques:
Balayage:
A French word meaning “to sweep.” The color is applied by sweeping free hand applications to create natural, sun kissed highlights.
Ombre:
Refers to the gradual lightening of the hair strand, usually fading from a darker color near the roots to a lighter one at the ends. Ombre can be very subtle or very striking depending on the look you want to achieve – which will then dictate the technique used and the level of lightness required.
Lumi-Ombrage:
Lumi-Ombrage is a combination of the Ombre and Balayage techniques. It is designed to create a natural looking texture, combined to a gradual lighter effect on the ends and at the front hairline that gives a contouring luminous finish.
