As the pandemic continues, we can not help but ask ourselves what can we do as mothers to keep our families’ wellbeing as well as we can.
A lesson we have all been learning throughout the pandemic is that we are all happier and healthier when we have a sense of control over any aspect of our daily lives, if not all. Having a stable routine, to say the least, greatly impacts this sense of control for a large number of mothers. This control can be as simple as being able to have a cup of coffee at work, or from our work desk at home. Whether working from home or at the office, we are all ready for our summer break.
As we bid the tail end of summer goodbye with an optimistic heart and mind, we have also welcomed a new norm.
A norm where we are not all flying out of town. A norm where we are becoming more graceful, over matters we have no control over. A norm where we do not necessarily get to have a summer break. Instead, we make the mindful choice to make it the best for ourselves as well as everyone around us.
Because we did not all get to enjoy our previous summer norms, the way we used to, this month’s wholeness corner will focus on how working mothers greatly impact the lives of their children, making moments matter no matter what the circumstances.
I personally am welcoming this summer with a grateful heart. Grateful to have met and been continuously inspired by the loveliest Yasmine El Charif whose support for other women and mothers in the Kuwaiti community is evident to all those that encounter her, whether on a personal or professional level through her work at bazaar magazine and bazaar Studios.
Yasmine’s ability to manage quality time with her family is no secret. She is able to find the balance between her work and parenting her toddler through managing her time efficiently.
She understands that at her daughter’s young age a lot of effort needs to be put into nurturing her daughter’s needs yet she does it with a smile most of the time. Realizing that there are moments when it is harder to smile has made this growth journey more enjoyable for her. She is open to sharing all these moments with her family on her social media platforms. Discussing many real matters that a number of other mothers may shy away from. This sort of mindset is what makes us feel so inspired by Yasmine’s mindset whether with her family or even on a professional level.
We love how she takes a stand in what she believes in on her platforms—and we are not only talking about parenting here. She is the prime example of what an active mother is; juggling all emotions at once, with a smile. Of course, practice makes perfect and from where we stand, she is constantly learning from others the same way she is teaching others without her even intending.
We love how she is a positive role model for her daughter, through her working from home during the longest stretch of lockdown during the pandemic, and going back full time afterwards. This shows her daughter at such an early age that women may have a professional life of their own while also being mothers. This sort of behavior influences girls significantly when they start their own families!
Working mothers are confident enough to juggle the different, sometimes surprising, demands of parenting yet still manage to maintain their desire to follow a career. This is evident in how Yasmine is able to effectively find the perfect balance, which works perfectly for her family, at all times and seasons. No matter what the circumstances, ensuring that her daughter is growing up emotionally fulfilled simply because her working mother’s mindset is emotionally aware and at most times fulfilled herself.
