Located on the Bida’a strip, and away from all the traffic, lies a little gem known as Taal. Now I’m sure that you’ve passed it by, or even went in for lunch or dinner; but has anyone considered enjoying an authentic Indian restaurant for breakfast. Before you call me crazy, just know that I’m not saying you should have Murgh and Masala; I’m talking about proper breakfast foods.
Apart from the usual pastries, omelets, continental, oriental, and American breakfasts; do you dare to try something a little more exotic? Full of nutrients and accompanied by delicious flavors, you are given a kick start for the biggest meal of the day or just indulge in their brunch selections.
Providing you with fresh juices and choices of coffee and tea, you can’t go wrong with their selection. Their atmosphere is very relaxed and elegant, with massive chandeliers dangling from the ceiling and big comfy sofas. The omelets are all prepared with a twist; from spicy fajita-like fillings to the foamy egg white centers. The Foamy Omelet’s center has a meringue-like consistency allowing it to melt in your mouth as you enjoy the flavor. Another “egg-tastic” creation is their Fresh Steamed Egg Pyramids dish. Exactly what it sounds like, the eggs are steamed then served in the shape of pyramids with cheese and bacon.
Muesli made with fresh fruits and yoghurt is creamy and delicious for the weight watching people out there. The buttermilk pancakes, Belgian waffles, and French toast are fluffy and light. The Indian breakfast was a refreshingly new morning treat. Due to the rareness of this concept in Kuwait, Taal has an advantage. Aloo, Gobhi, Paneer Paratha, and Poori Bhaji for choices of foods, give you a taste of the exotic and an essence of India. Their poori is made fresh and unlike most places, it’s very light, fluffy and fresh, and although slightly heavy-handed on the oil, is absolutely worth every drop. Tearing into it and watching the steam escape, you mouth begins to water and your taste buds tingle as you take a bhaji –dipped bite. Nothing about the breakfast is ordinary, and everything about it is exciting.
