Mohammed Ayoub is the Senior Marketing Manager for talabat Kuwait. He is Jordanian but was born and raised in Kuwait. He started his college career in the US (North Carolina, Charlotte) and graduated from GUST. He started working at online marketing agencies and large local and international brands and organizations to help bring their marketing and brand strategies to life. We wanted to find out more about him, his role at talabat and his passion for marketing.
Tell us more about your role at talabat.
My job covers different areas that all fall under the marketing umbrella. As the Senior Marketing Manager, I am primarily responsible for creating marketing strategies and campaigns that would grow our orders and customer acquisition numbers while keeping cost per acquisition within range. More importantly my team and I work on building a brand identity that enjoys high affinity with our clients. Our customer experience and loyalty is very important to us and we believe we cannot maintain a strong relationship with them unless we relate to them.
This is why we invest a lot of time in coming up with ways to stay relevant on an emotional level. I also work with the Client Relationship Management team to ensure that we continually provide a personalized experience to our customers and remain close to them. Another area that my team and I work on is to build strong partnerships programs and campaigns with other brands that can bring value to our customers. This is my technical role.
On a different level, it is part of my role to help develop my team and encourage them to step out of their comfort zone. I am truly blessed with a very ambitious and motivated team that inspires me every day with their strong determination to drive talabat forward.
Do you think that marketing comes naturally to everyone, or is it a skill that must be learned?
I think anyone can learn how to do tactical marketing. It doesn’t take a lot of time to learn how to come up with a good offer at the right time if you have a bit of experience and some data to back it up. There is a bit of trial and error but eventually anyone can get the hang of it.
When you’re not working, what do you do to relax?
Well, I am a family guy. I enjoy spending my time with my family to release the pressures of daily life. Music is my escape, and I have liked listening to Amr Diab since I was a kid. Also, I am trying to work on my DJ’ing skills from time to time, but it’s not that easy. Aiming for Ibiza though! I also like playing basketball every week as I am a hardcore Lakers and Manchester United fan. Other than that, there is the usual Netflix’ing.
What is your favorite thing about your job? What do you think is most challenging?
Everything. I love what I do because it’s not a monotonous job. There is something different to panic about every day. Joking aside, my favorite thing would be that in talabat we have the ability to give feedback and be more open for any feedback from other team members or departments. The team spirit is amazing. We like to challenge each other and there is a very strong internal competition which is very healthy.
We are all young people thinking at the same wavelength, which is not something you find in every company. Our culture is the best thing I could ever ask for. I also love that it is a challenging job that tests my limits and pushes my boundaries. I always look forward to having users who love talabat and consider it as their 1st destination for food/grocery ordering.
What advice would you give for young people interested in careers in marketing?
Be exposed to what’s happening around you in the world. Spend more time in exploring successful practices done before. Keep learning because you need to cope up with fast moving innovations. Be proud, not satisfied.
What were some of your favorite talabat campaigns that you worked in in 2020?
Introducing talabat mart to the market at the beginning of the year as a new talabat aggregator is one campaign I really like because it always feels good when you are starting or introducing something new to the market. It becomes your baby.
What do you use talabat most for?
I use talabat almost every day. It’s part of my lifestyle, and I am not saying that because I work here. It really makes my life much easier. I use it to order both food and groceries. I love Zaatar w Zeit, McDonald’s and Raising Cane’s and for groceries, it’s definitely talabat mart.
Do you have any talabat hacks?
Use filters and collections. It will make your life easier and will get you the right choice faster. You will always find the best deals there.
