Tamara Qaddoumi’s latest video for the track “Ripe” is finally out, and it’s totally worth the wait! This music video is everything – fashion forward, edgy and scintillating.
The video marks a visual interpretation of change and the process of becoming, and raises a dialogue about embracing one’s most rebellious self, which, according to Tamara, is primitiveness. A natural cathartic outcome of societal criticism.

“Finding glory in one’s rubble or ‘dirt’ and; rising above it all is what inspired the video for this track.” Tamara told bazaar.
“People are always looking to feed off your crumbs, and that’s something we can all relate to. But the more they pick, the more vulnerable or ripe you become and being ripe doesn’t weaken you – it just brings you closer to yourself.”
Directed by Simon Benjamin and shot in New York City, “Ripe” was made possible thanks to the production skills of Jordan’s own Zein Zubi, while Tamara’s Amazonian-inspired styling was courtesy of Roni Helou of the renowned label Creative Space Beirut.
“I was so blessed to be surrounded by people who uplifted me and really believed in my work. It was truly a pleasure to have worked with an incredible team who helped bring our vision to life.”
The visually stunning black and gold color scheme is bold, strong and sensual. According to Tamara, the dark coal represent the so called “dirt” and the gold represents how we gloriously rise above the pulls of society that keep us down.
The difference between “Ripe” and her first video “Flowers Will Rot” (which won the Best Music Video Award at the 2017 Erie International Film Festival) is striking. Interestingly, “Ripe” came to life much before “Flowers Will Rot” did and Tamara was advised to use it as an opportunity to establish her music and her brand. But to her, “Ripe” didn’t embody what the EP Dust Bathing was all about. She explains,
“I think they both showcase very different sides & layers of myself & of my work of course. Filled with juxtapositions & dualities I grew up around in my environment, of the world I built for myself which I’m sure many people can relate to.”
The release of “Ripe” has certainly added some excitement into our work week! Don’t be surprised if you find yourselves humming along to this one all day long!
