When the world shut down this spring many of us pivoted to cyberspace. We used it to keep our businesses running, order our groceries and meet our friends. All of these services were already available even before the pandemic, but then we started seeing new and dare we say innovative solutions to real-life problems.
Designers, coders, techies, and geeks have been slowly proving to the world that they can find better ways of doing things. Here are some of our favorite local projects that will make your life just a little bit easier:
Vthru
When restaurants started offering curbside and drive-thru delivery options, there were lots of hiccups. Vthru simplifies the entire process for restaurants and customers. Just download the app, choose your restaurant to make your order, and enjoy your freshly cooked food.
Koobs QR Code Drive Thru
Grabbing your morning cup of coffee just got easier. Scan the QR code when you arrive at Koobs and just follow the instructions to order and pay.
Raqam Virtual Queueing
No one wants to touch anything unless they absolutely must. With the Raqam Virtual Queueing system, it is all done through your phone.
KDD drive thru app
We like to stock up on essentials like chocolate milk and ice cream sandwiches, because priorities, right?
Wireless charger and disinfection device
Your phone is filthy. Charge and disinfect it using one device.
Acrylic Keys
These are not super high tech, but they are a smart design solution. The laser cut acrylic keys are a great utility to open doors, press buttons and avoid using your hands.
KFAS Virtual Hackathon
KFAS hosted virtual workshops and events that helped teams and individuals brainstorm and implement ideas that can help us better cope with COVID-19. Congrats to the winners!
