It is often the case in Kuwait, that if you ask someone how they like their steak the answer you get is “well done”. You may, on the rare occasion, even hear an adventurously toned, “I can take medium well”. This is a challenge for a steak restaurant. How can Texas Roadhouse ensure that a customer gets the best steak experience if their patrons only like steak cooked one way?
Texas Roadhouse knows that because not every cut of meat should be cooked the same way it’s important to first ask customers, “How do you like your steak done?” This way the well-trained servers can point you in the direction of the steak which cooks best to your liking.
If you like your steak rare, perhaps rib-eye with all its fatty marbling, isn’t the cut for you. But, this very same piece of meat will be deliciously juicy and buttery cooked longer on a hotter grill for medium well done.
All the Texas Roadhouse steaks are seared to seal in their natural juices which adds to the flavor of the grill-cooked steak that ends up on your plate. But even staff members who have served in the kitchens for years, can’t tell you exactly what’s the recipe of the Texas Roadhouse dry rub that adds even more taste and flavor to every cut of meat.
It must be known however, that as good as the rub is, and the proffered advice of the knowledgeable servers excellent, Texas Roadhouse starts out with an incredible product to begin with. Of particular note to local customers is that the meat is 100% halal and from a facility that also conforms entirely to the strictest regulations to continually be awarded this vital certification. No other non-halal meats are ever on the premisis. This also means that those sizzling juices seen in steaks cooked from from rare to medium are entirely created through the cooking processes and is not indicative of blood.
Here’s the science bit: only muscle produces a red pigmented protein called myoglobin – the juice you see when slicing into your steak. This is why searing keeps steak succulent; it seals in the juices! Grain finishing is also designed to deepen the red color of the beef, and whiten the marbling, so you may even get a touch of pinkness in a medium well done steak. So, it is the consistent quality of the 100% halal USDA, 90-day grain finished, 28-day aged US beef that keeps regular customers coming back for more, and delighting new customers when they step inside any Texas Roadhouse.
Following the founding principles that all the Texas Roadhouse dishes should be made by hand, every steak is hand cut by Texas Roadhouse in local team of hand cutters. It takes real skill to be able to read a piece of meat for cutting. Like wood, you have to read the direction of the grain, feel the muscle, and these Texas Roadhouse hand cutters all have their own set of knives they prefer to work with. Each steak is carefully sculpted and carved out of the beef to provide the optimal steak experience to the steak restaurant customer.
They also weigh to the gram to make sure your pre-cooked steak weight is exactly what you asked for. 18oz (510g) medium Texas T-bone, please! Texas Roadhouse invests a great deal of time in training the local team, and once they start training, there’s no guarantee of making it to the end of this rigorous program. Only the very best, most skilled and hardy cutters make the grade. To ensure the product they work with maintains its quality throughout preparation, cutters work in an environment refrigerated to only 4 degrees Celsius!
You would think the famous made from scratch sides wouldn’t require the same amount of dedication that Texas Roadhouse puts into plating your ideal steak, but the careful preparation starts in the kitchens each and every morning, long before the steak restaurant opens. The staff prepare the sides with the exact same hand-made commitment, making customer favorites like the butter rich sweetcorn, or loaded baked potato.
And, these perfect potatoes are shipped, depending on the season, all the way from Idaho or Washington, because Texas Roadhouse hunted down the fluffiest most ideally suited potato for baking that you can get! Speaking of fluffy, there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a bite into those famous Texas Roadhouse fresh baked bread (baked every five minutes in fact!), all shiny, hot and accompanied by the famous classic cinnamon butter. Don’t eat too many, because you’ll want to leave room to really enjoy the steak to come.
