The Taste of Q8 is one of the most anticipated events of the year! Held annually towards the end of March, the weather is crisp and lovely to accommodate the three-day long foodie fun to be had at the event. And what’s even more, is that the 2017 Taste of Q8 festival will be held at the most ideal location to enjoy the weather, The Boulevard. Intrigued? Allow us to further pique your interest by saying that this year’s event is absolutely free to enter! Yes, no tickets, no buying online—nada!
Though 2016’s Marina Crescent location was a great success, the Taste of Q8 is choosing to branch out to other locations throughout their running to embrace the very ethos the festival embodies: spreading the love of food around the country, in locations that are accessible and accommodating in size and ambiance. Salmiya’s The Boulevard is the definition of accessibility, as it’s located in the heart of Kuwait’s central hub, right off of 5th ring road, and is vast in size, being able to comfortably hold large crowds. Don’t forget what this means: lots of options for parking! Also, if you need in-between breaks from your festival frolicking, you can venture out to explore the Boulevard’s grounds and all the great stores they have on offer! Take a walk around the amazing pathway, wander through the beautifully landscaped gardens to build your appetites and head back to the Taste of Q8 vendor tents for more yummy food to sample from the fantastic selection of vendors!
Located at Gate 2 off of Mughera bin Shoba Street in Salmiya, the festival will be laid out like a city street, with tented restaurants and gourmet food vendors lining the street all along the leisurely pathways. Planned musical festivities will take center stage and kid’s activities will be available throughout, so the little ones will never be bored! Then, the highlight of the day will be centered in two main stages, the Nolte Chef’s Stage and the Bosch Cooking School, where the Celebrity Chefs will be entertaining us with live cooking demos and sharing their famous recipes and food preparation tips.
Here’s a handy map to easy find the event at The Boulevard:
The Taste of Q8’s team will be staying true to tradition, yet changing things up with their participants. All guests can expect the festival’s usual, great attractions and features: booths from some of the greatest local eateries in town, giveaways, music, and of course, the celebrity chef demos!
Last year, dozens of restaurants, caterers and food companies showcased their signature dishes, and interacted with Celebrity Chefs from Food Network, the BBC and KTV Kuwait. 2017’s Taste of Q8 promises even more Celebrity demos, as well as an increase in interactive cooking classes. With new faces like Chef Tarek Ibrahim, Shelina Permalloo and Annabel Karmel, along with recurring guest stars, legendary chefs Dean Brettschneider and Adlah Al Sharhan, we all have every reason to be excited for the education we’ll be getting as these masters teach us their tricks of the trade.
Organizers are anticipating 10,000 attendees PER DAY! With over 70 restaurants offering taste size portions of their signature dishes for a nominal fee, the ambiance is perfect for trying a dozen restaurants at once…not just dinner at one single place! Try out some brand new favorites with so much of Kuwait’s culinary variety on offer at the Taste.
But what’s most remarkable about the Taste of Q8 is the free admission, making the event entirely approachable and welcoming to the public. This gives attendees all the flexibility in the world and limited pressure to pass by and have as much fun as their hearts (and tummies!) desire, without the linger of disappointment in the air, or feeling like you’ve sacrificed something if you aren’t satisfied. Which trust us, won’t even be an issue – have you seen the Celebrity Chef line up? For vendors, this means more potential visitors to sample their incredible delicacies on offer.
Free admission also means that the public can feel free to come in and discover new flavors of Kuwait! Perhaps you’ll meet a vendor whose menu you really love, and you’ll end up becoming a loyal customer? There will be so many loved boutique eateries, bigger names, and independent food concepts there for you to enjoy.
So, what are you all waiting for? We know we’ve convinced you! Mark your calendars for March 16-18th, Kuwait, and we’ll see you there.
The Taste of Q8 will be held on March 16, 17 and 18 in The Boulevard. The Boulevard is located in Al Mughaira Bin Shu’aba Street in Salmiya, off of 5th Ring Road, opposite City Center.
