With so much information about health and wellness out there, it is difficult to sift out the real from the fake and the informative from the marketable. At every corner there is an unqualified influencer or individual trying to sell the latest diet or quick fix. This is where The Project comes in. A real, no b-s show that is not about making you purchase something or trying to get you to become someone you are not.
The Project is a podcast that offers community driven health and fitness information, from local and regional experts, to help guide you towards the best version of yourself. Luckily for us, this show started locally and rose to popularity quite quickly.
The Project’s host, Mahdi, along with co- hosts Dr. D and Meg tackle an array of different topics. With two main focus topics being fitness and psychology. The fitness episodes discuss programs, coaches and dismantling the latest trends, while the psychology episodes cover various mental health issues and coping tools.
With a number of different segments per week: Health and fitness, Psyched with Dr.D and Expats Abroad, the show’s back catalogue covers over 200 episodes(and counting) in both Arabic and English.
Each episode is downloaded an average of 600-1000 times with listeners from every single continent. On a typical episode, you can expect to listen in to experts from all over the world tackling many taboo subjects in Kuwait.
Mahdi, a real-life average Joe who coaches baseball and fitness has been in the fitness industry for over 20 years and seen it all. He’s also tried all the fad diets and crazy workouts so you don’t have to. Although Mahdi is known for never having a filter (especially when it comes to influencers and snake-oil salesmen), his main concern is all about integrity.
To him, this means providing the average person with the best information possible to empower him to make the best educated decisions. What a wonderful attribute to have!
Dr. D, the second podcast host is an amazing psychologist who teaches at a local university. She gained quite a large following on Instagram due to her compassion and willingness to spread information about mental health. It’s times like these when this is needed the most.
On the show, she is best known for being outspoken and honest. Not only is she very intelligent, but her humor, empathy, and insight set her apart from her peers.
And last but not least, we have our final co-host, Meg. Meg is known as “The Stress Terminator” from America. She’s a walking science experiment that helps you find a way when you’re lost, out of time, and sick of the diets. Meg has also been known to help people find confidence in their minds, bodies, and health as they age.
This leaves us, the listeners, with multinational hosts who come from different training backgrounds and have various skill sets on a platform providing us with unique viewpoints and expert opinions from knowledge sources.
Not only do these hosts have an endless amount of viable information to benefit us, but they also invite inspirational guests from around the Middle East to deliver various customer segments and needs. The Project can be found on all major platforms such as Itunes, Spotify, Stitcher and Google Play.
What makes The Project a podcast that is unlike any other in the region is not only the wonderful people behind it but also the topics discussed. Don’t expect to hear gossip, fashion talk, or local trends. You know the questions that go on in your head but you never ask because they’re often thought to be weird or “taboo”, well you’ll get your answer on The Project.
If you don’t have any questions, the industry experts will surely make you scratch your head. If you’re looking for a podcast that is the opposite of basic, that will help you go both on a physical, mental and emotional level then you have to show your support to #ProjectKuwait. Check out what Mahdi from The Project had to say when we got him to take on our up close and personal questionnaire.
