Since this is earth month, with a green theme here in bazaar, let’s take a look at some of the more famous eco warriors, and environmentally friendly TV personalities who love the earth like no other.
Captain Planet
Of course, the first entry on the list has to be ‘The Cap’. You can’t get more eco warrior than this dude, and if it wasn’t clear enough by the name alone, his whole M.O. is protecting the planet of pollution (of which, according to the theme tune, he plans to reduce down to zero). So when the 5 Planeteers combine their magic rings, Captain Planet is summoned like some kind of Greenpeace genie to save the day. Consider him to be Superman’s hippy cousin.
Lisa Simpson
Little Lisa, from The Simpsons, always has strong views on environmental issues and animal welfare. She is a member of PETA and a vegetarian, and has even shown interest in becoming a vegan. Her love of animals and vegetarian habits allowed her to meet Sir Paul McCartney of The Beatles, which just goes to show that caring for the planet pays off. Not only do you do good for the earth, but you can also get some amazing hook ups
Jessie Spano
Without a picture to jog your memory, you may be wondering ‘’who on earth is Jessie Spano”? Bonus points if you already knew, but Jessie was the outspoken member of the gang from Saved By The Bell, and was always fighting some kind of environmentally positive cause. In one episode, Jessie chained herself to an oil derrick protesting the dangers of oil drilling. We must have missed the episode on how she tied herself to AC Slaters leg to protest the amount of oil he used during his jheri curl stage.

Ellen DeGeneres
Everyone loves Ellen for a million different reasons, but one reason we love her especially is her love of the environment. Sharing a lot with Lisa Simpson above, Ellen educated herself about animal farm cruelty, and instantly became vegan. She is also a member of PETA AND CSA, she tries to find as many homes as possible for pets that need adoptions and she regularly provides educational eco-friendly information on her Ellen’s Life webpage. Oh, and she also drives a hybrid car. Way to go Ellen, the earth loves you!
Phoebe Buffay
Seen by some as a hippy, a more accurate description of Phoebe is eco-friendly legend. Over 10 seasons of Friends, and 10 years, there are too many examples of the great green work Phoebe has done. She beat Ellen on the adoption front, and went as far as making her friends adopt and take home old unwanted Christmas trees, to save them from being chipped. She cries when flowers die. And she even wrote an entire song for a smelly cat.
