The power of social media may not have been as strong or influential as it is today, yet there are those that would beg to differ just like these three moms, who definitely do so.
Back in 2011, on Twitter, three mothers needed support when it came to their newborns’ journey, or their journey even as new mothers experiencing breastfeeding. They did not have a place to seek support other than through the platform they all connected on. Safe understood and most importantly supported, they clicked, that is when wonders started to happen. They realized that together, they are greater.
Together they could and they did.
The words “you can do it” helped motivate them, and eventually drove them to guide and support hundreds, if not thousands of women from Kuwait and abroad. Women of all ages and races connected together and family-like bonds were being created.
The passionate wonder women behind it all, are Heba Al-Ali Chair and founding member of BirthKuwait, Zuzana Nadova, Treasurer and founding member of BirthKuwait, and Sara Paksima, Consultant to BirthKuwait, founder of DC Doula.
As they expanded, the movement required a higher level of professionalism, and they became more aware that mothers were looking for answers to a number of different questions and concerns but did not find the support they needed on an emotional level at times, even if they may find a rigid response or answer. The women of BirthKuwait are always on the same journey as the mother because they went through the same feeling of confusion at some point during their pregnancies or after even. BirthKuwait ensures that they are helping mothers make more educated decisions for themselves and by themselves through providing the knowledge and tools required for the mommy.
Arwa Al-Terkait, introduced Kathy Gravis to BirthKuwait, together they collaborated in hosting the first official training in Hypnobirthing in 2011. From then onwards, they expanded their support tools even further to the wider community, whether it is through the workshops and training they take or offer.
With the help of Dr. Fatma Bojourwa, Nour Zaza, and Duaa Idrees they created official BirthKuwait programs that surely will help create a more enlightening journey for all mothers from the early pregnancy stages, childbirth and delivery, and into the first two years, by then you surely would have gained a friend or two from BirthKuwait.
Collaborating with reputable local hospitals like Royale Hayat has enabled the BirthKuwait team of exceptionally qualified Doulas, lactation consultants and coaches to name a few, to better help mothers with the new journey they are embarking on. Supporting mothers by being their support at all times via their hotline, works wonders on how a new mother feels, and more often than not, is uplifting and energizing.
With the support of Shaikha Bibi AlSabah, they were able to host their first official prenatal yoga training in 2013. Three years led by three exceptional women delivering phenomenal results evident within Kuwait. From there, the breastfeeding support program was launched as well as the BirthKuwait training sessions that are set to twice a year, and are also available online, for the world. This resourcefulness is the reason they were able to continue delivering their work throughout the pandemic, and offer their constant support to all who need it at any given time via their different platforms and more.
This sort of emotional connection they have managed to create and maintain through the years is what makes mothers connect with them instantly. There is no fear whatsoever and they feel safe at all times without feeling judged for whatever choices they make. Firm believers of knowledge and making educational decisions for yourself, by yourself, they strive to help you clear your mind when all is foggy. The mother will automatically feel more empowered.
Feelings of optimism help fuel the work behind BirthKuwait’s services or even simply when they are there for the mother. Together you prepare physically, mentally as well as emotionally to welcome your new journey with more ease, confidence, and happiness. This is the start of their aspirations, for the more women they are able to reach and support, the grander their goals become.
There is always a reason to celebrate a mother at BirthKuwait. Every day is Mothers’ Day. Simply put BirthKuwait leads by example, so flawlessly.
