Bespoke cobbling: two words that almost matter the most in my pursuit of happiness. Add Jimmy Choo’s creative director Sandra Choi’s collection of Choos to the equation, and an overwhelming emotion of felicity embodies me. When luxury shoemaker Jimmy Choo launched their made-to-order (MTO) service last year, women worldwide finally found their secret antidote to melancholy. The romanticism of marrying personalized touches to Italian craftsmanship with the luxury of choice made us all feel like royalty.
When I attended the MTO service last spring, walking into the store knowing I would get to personalize my shoes was a fairytale experience. There was a wonderland of swatches to choose from in a myriad of colors textures and finishes in signature styles. Inspired by her travels to France and England, Choi allowed vintage femininity to take the lead for the Spring 2015 MTO collection.
This year, I am prepared for yet another spectacular adventure. Once inside the store, you get to choose from the trunk which will include a collection made of golden bronze and ivory gold lace brocade, a feminine Toile de Jouy fabric in magnolia and vintage rose and a pair of ‘50s vibrant floral prints re-mastered on silk leaves.
“I was drawn to these one of a kind vintage fabrics, fascinated by their origins and story. I wanted to bring them back to life as part of our Made-To-Order offer, not only do they lend a sense of romance to having your shoes custom made but they also bring a sense of vibrant animation to the range with their unique prints.” Sandra Choi, Creative Director.
I needed to remind myself to be careful while filling out the order form since almost everything in this collection needs a tick, tick, tick! 60 different versions of fabrics and unique prints that include eye catching metallic elaphé and exotic lizard in a palette of tempting colors – yes please! Vintage fabrics and suede in a selection of iconic designs that include Anouk, Xenia, Lance in varying heel heights – yaaas! This time as well, to my pleasure, the service is also extended to platforms and if you think this is the icing on the cake, think again.
Let wedding bells ring! A ‘’Bespoke Date” service will be introduced where you can now have a special 6-digit date etched onto a plaque and fitted to the sole of your MTO shoe in addition to monograming initials.
Every girl dreams of a fairytale ending and as the year closes, I will be the first to admit that amidst all the highs of the year, nothing makes me happier than indulging in a little MTO, Choo-style. Not your typical princess behavior but hey, you would too if you were in my “Choos”.
The Made-to-Order service will be available at Jimmy Choo stores in Kuwait from November 24, 2015.
